Help Please. DD13's dad just bailed on her DW spending money

   I don't always know what is the best thing to say and I don't understand everything, but I just want people to be happy :) I hope you all have a great vacation and I wish all of you the best :)

I think you guys will have an awesome time, and I remember my dad taking us on trips to WDW or anywhere, and he NEVER wanted to spend any money.

I could write a book about all the hotels we stayed at, one time I was going to the bathroom and the bathroom door fell on me.

Another had a big sign outside that sad "bevs available" and had what looked like blood stains on the floor, my mom wouldnt let me walk on the floor and we had dinner at dunkin doughnuts.

You are staying at disney with the ddp, trust me thats enough to make this trip great.

I wanted to wish you a very magical trip. We will be there around the same time that you are and I will be thinking of you and your DD. I am also a single mother to a DD2 who is the victim of a deadbeat dad. He has not paid any child support or family support and has not seen my DD in two years. But, the thing is, when we are in Disney, we don't worry about any of that. You will make due with what you have arranged and will have a great time. I understand that it is not about your DD's spending money, it is about her disappointment. Have a great time, take lots of pictures, enjoy yourself! Remember that your hard work and love of your child is what made this all possible.

What am I supposed to do with all this excitement, I'm laughing even while typing this. I don't think I have ever been this excited. My DD13's smile just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Things are pretty silly in this home right now. Wonder how many times my DD13 has repacked? I'm guessing 5 or 6 times. Its a hoot just watching the effort going into the most perfectly packed suitcase (wonder how it will look after our first day there lol). 3 days to go, wooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooo

Ohhh, I am excited for you guys now to!!! Tulsanurse, you and your DD will have the utmost best time and we are all behind you!!! Enjoy the magic!!

Suz

PS, thanks Wilderness01!!

1) Paying your rent late is irresponsible.:headache:
2) Yelling at your Ex is being a child. Did you call him and apologize? You need to do it in so your DD sees you doing it.
3) Did the Ex offer the $315 or did you tell him he had to give it to your DD?:confused3 It is yours and DD's trip. The Ex is not obligated to any part of it. If he gave her spending money that would have been a really nice jesture, but it is not his responsibility.

I feel sorry for your DD having to see how her parents act. This is a really sad example to set for her. She will survive without that $315 but she cannot survive the memories and the heartache it will cause her for the rest of her life.

I hope you both have a nice vacation.

DO NOT BRING UP THE SPENDING MONEY EVER ON THE TRIP.

Hi gang! Moderator Beth E. (NJ) here.

The Op was venting. She explained in another post about paying the rent through auto withdrawl and clearing it with the company.

And she said that yelling at her ex was wrong.

So lets not go after her to bad for what she said.

haven't you ever wanted to vent just to get something off your chest? I know I have. And when I'm talking Disney this is the place I am going to come to do it.

Great post Beth!

To OP: Have a great trip and enjoy the magic with DD and her friend. It is wonderful to be able to have time to reconnect with your DD after you have worked so hard to get to this point. Enjoy yourself and let the little things pass you by.:cheer2:

Our souvenier buying problems were solved at an outlet mall on International Drive off of Sandlake Rd. It's Belz Outlet Center and they have two stores full of Disney. These are run by Disney employees with the same things you can find at the parks. We always shop the outlets first, compare to what's at the parks, and go back to the outlet before we leave. Almost everything they have there is 50% off!! There are some books, stickers, trading pins, & plush that are regular prices. My DD16 would only buy from there and came home with $$ and a bunch of new clothes. They have everything!! We've done Christmas shopping there 2 years in a row now. Character Premier and Character Warehouse are the two store names. There is one in building 1 and one in building 2.

The BELZ Outlet Mall stores are no longer there. The mall was demolished and is currently being rebuilt and renamed.

For buying Disney Souveniers, there is the Premium Outlets located on Vineland (just off 535 very close to WDW property) as well as the Lake Buena Vista Outlets also off of 535.
Both malls are very close and easy to find and you will find quite a bit of the same merchandise that is sold on property at a substantial savings.

Nicely put Beth. Thanks for stepping in.

Thank you Beth for your input. That was so nice. Ok you guys, Im leaving in 36 hours and I'm freaking out!!!! lololol. Im so happy and everything is going great. I love the Dis'ers here. I've learned so much, and even joined TourGuideMike's which has also been invaluable. Im so happy right now, I could blow slobber bubbles. My DD13 went to bed early because she is having trouble sleeping from being so excited, lol. It makes me so happy to see her like this. Thank you all for the caring words. Laurie

I have been reading along, but just had to chime in. I hope you and your daughter have a magical time. :yay:

And don't let anyone make you feel bad about your initial reactions. Also, don't beat yourself up over it either. We all react to different things in not so perfect ways.... Whether we are married or divorced, I dont think many people can say that they havent reacted to something their spouse(or ex) has said or done in the wrong way, and usually in front of the kids.
The trick is to learn from it, and to let your child know that what you did was wrong and to let them know you are working on being a better person.

Kids need to see that their parents are human also.

Have a great time! We are going in December. So I am working an extra job these days to pay for the rest of our trip. Everytime I want to quit the job because I am too tired  , I think of our trip. In about 6 months, it will be my turn. Single parent here also.

You all deserve to have the very best time on your trips, both you and Laurie. I wish you all a safe and happy time.

Please Laurie, when you get back can you post a trip report on this board so we can see what a fantastic time you had with your DD? I am so thrilled for you all right now. Tons of pixie dust your way...:tink:

I am happy to see that you are happy :) Let me wish you and your daughter and everyone that is going with you to Disney a very happy time :goodvibes You all have fun and enjoy the magic of Disney :wizard:

If you can....take a short trip to one of the Disney outlet stores while you are there. My kids don't ever buy anything in the parks. They wait and see what is at the Disney Outlet (Character Warehouse) stores first. MUCH cheaper. The only thing we sometimes splurge on is the Lego store at DD.

My guess is that that isn't the first time your ex has flaked on her.

Hope you have a great trip! We have done Disney on an extreme budget in the past and still not deprived ourselves. I recall having only $60 a day to spend for food and souvenirs for three of us and we did it-and even managed to come home with cash! Have fun! :woohoo:

Have a great trip!!!! Hoestly, with the DDP, you are going to be just fine. We usually spend around $200 extra for the three of us when we have the dining plan and that includes everything! We always come home with money. DS usually saves around $50 and usually always comes home with money too (as long as we can avoid the lego store!) So no stressing, just go and have fun! I know you will:wizard:
