Regarding DHS, we enjoyed Sci Fi! As long as the kids don't mind corny old-fashioned sci-fi clips, it can be entertaining. Plus, parents can enjoy sitting semi-privately in one seat of the car for a change of pace with the kids in the other seats of the car (if you get the car set up instead of a table setup).
If you want a different option in DHS, 50s Prime Time is also a fun choice. I love the food options in both restaurants.
As for the non-park day, definitely try a resort TS. Whispering Canyon is very fun, and can be a fairly good value on the DDP - I mean, bottomless skillet, bottomless milkshakes, AND dessert on top of it?! How can you go wrong? (We packaged up dessert for breakfast the next morning.)
We didn't care for 1900 Park Fare... found it a bit crowded... and the food was just semi-decent, but not fantastic... and of course, we have boys, so Cinderella and company weren't as enjoyed by our party as much as girls may cherish meeting them. I think I'd prefer using 2 credits to eat in the castle just for the experience instead of 1900. Just my 2 cents. Though if your friends have princess lovers, I'd try Akershus... but check the menus - limited entrees to choose from (although there is the partial buffet too), but breakfast may be a safer bet if there's picky eaters.
Have fun planning!
