I am planning a disney trip for 9 for the week of August 9 thru August 15. Currently I have reservations at Shades of Green for 2 rooms (each room sleeps 5). We get the military ticket for my husband for free and for 5 others for 150 each. We will buy stars and stripes passes for the other 3, which will be around $300 each.
I have been reading on the boards that I could possibly get 40% military discount on disney resort rooms and then only buy a one day park hopper pass and then upgrade them?? I'm not sure how that works, could someone please explain it to me? Also this would allow me to buy the dining plan, which would be ideal since most everyone is paying for their own food.
Would I come out better or close to the same by staying at a disney resort and getting the dining plan? I think it would be a lot more convenient than trying to split up tickets at sit down meals. I also know that many rooms at the resorts will only allow 4 to a room??
(We have been to disney several times, but usually stay at shades of green and it is usualy just my family of four, so this is a bit new to me.)
