So I'm in charge of the planning (for obvious reasons if you knew me). I have made tentative ADRs for the family trip. We are going to be at WDW during Thanksgiving week so I thought it prudient to book ADRs so that we have them and then work out changes after the fact. The problem is Mom and I are a bit more adventerous with our foods. Mom likes chinese and I love sushi so we can handle "different". Dad doesn't like to go to resturants that don't offer familiar. We are always good if I can get him steak and potatoes. But I don't want to freak him out or force him to only eat steak and potatoes cuz its all he knows.

Here's what I have so far:
Day 1: Spoodles - cuz it was available. Need something off park but on site.
Day 2: Biergarten - Dad was stationed in Germany. Thought he get a kick.
Day 3: Liberty Tree Tavern - It was available. Need something at MK
Day 4: Raglan Road - Thanksgiving Lunch being served.

Oh yeah, we're on the dining plan. OK.... fire away!popcorn::

What about Coral Reef they have a great steak? DH is the exact same way and really enjoyed Spoodles. Unfortunatley those are the only 2 dinners I can offer. We ate mostly buffets for dinner this time.

We really enjoyed the Coral Reef. I had the steak and it was delicious! And, as I am sure many are going to suggest, LeCellier is yummy too!

If it's not to late, try O'hana. I'm a meat and potatoes boy myself from Oklahoma, and I LOVE O'hana.

Whisper Cayon might be a nice place to try. Or Trails end.

Love Raglan Road. Good fish, and cold Guinness. Good stew also.

My husband is the kind of man that needs to have a hamburger on the menu as a fallback. Here are some of his favorites -

Le Cellier (especially for lunch since it's cheaper)
Rose and Crown (for the fish and chips)
Yacht Club Galley (he had a steak there and actually did not need ketchup for it)
Big River Grille (beer sampler)
ESPN Club
Sci Fi Dine Inn (lunch for the burger)
50s Prime Time (just good old American cooking)
Casey's Hot Dogs (counter service)

He's not big on Whispering Canyon Cafe (too noisy) but that's another choice.

Chefs de France is another choice - their grilled ham and cheese is very good and "safe" while you and your mother could be more adventurous.

Wow!!! Thanks for all the tips. Definently worth calling back the resrv agents to check on those.

Thanks!

I am so glad to know that I'm not the only one traveling with a Dad like this! I'm headed out next week and I can let you know how our Steak & Potatoes Dad did with our choices. BTW, he also hates crowds and noise....I've told him he has no choice but to have a good time and if he doesn't, he darn well better act like he is!:goodvibes

my DH must be related to your dad, lol. we have eaten at biergarten, LTT, CP, WCC, ohana (breakfast) and DH was pleased w/ ALL of them. the only one we didn't care for was hollywood & vine-the meat DH got was RAW, the food items weren't replenished as necessary and the noise level was unreal.
this year we're going to CP, biergarten and ohana (breakfast again). for counter service, we like pecos bills (MK), american adventure (Epcot), backlot express or flatbread grill (both MGM). pecos bills and flatbread grill both serve YUMMMY bbq pork subs!

Getting reservations for Thanksgiving was hard but about two weeks ago I was able to get 2:30 reservations for Thanksgiving day for four adults at the Yacht Club Galley - they are doing a buffet of a traditional New England Thanksgiving dinner. Not 100% sure what this includes but I am sure at least turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. I wanted this time as we will not be going into the park on Thanksgiving day and this will give us time to relax in the morning, have a great meal and then have a walk around the Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Club to walk off our meal. We will probably hit Downtown Disney later in the evening and enjoy some ice cream. My boyfriends dad lives in Orlando and is not much for going into the parks and my dad will be joining us for the week so I figured this would be a nice way to spend the day with family and coming from NY we have to watch the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day parade on TV that morning.

Don't Forget Boma,

You and mom can try some african inspired dishes and dad can have meet and potatoes and salad and lots of "traditional american" food!

I see you have the Liberty Tree Tavern booked, don't know if its for lunch or dinner, but at lunch they have a New England Pot Roast that my meat-n-tato guy really liked! :goodvibes

I have to second this one! My whole family found something they enjoyed; even my picky teenagers.

Wolfgang Puck's Cafe might be another good choice. They have sushi as well as comfort food.
