Hi All, my wife and I just decided tonight to do a trip over Easter break and I'm really concerned about this new park reservation system. We haven't officially booked it yet, because I saw on the disney website that there is zero availability for hollywood studios for Easter week! Does anyone know if this will change or do you literally have to keep checking every hour to grab a reservation there? Hollywood studios is our favorite park, so if we cannot get in as resort guest i'm not sure if its worth all the money? My other question is that we may have an opportunity to use a friends DVC points at Saratoga Springs but won't know for sure for another few weeks. Would it be ok to just book any resort/package now so I have a reservations which would then allow me to book park reservations as a resort guest, and then be able to add the DVC reservation at a later date and cancel the original hotel booking? Or, is it best to just buy tickets without a hotel right now and book the parks and add the DVC later? Thanks in advance, i'm so confused!

I have had to postpone resort reservations due to the travel ban and I have found that the APRs stick, after the resort reservation is cancelled and I have to manually cancel each day’s APR. As a caveat, I haven’t actually tried to enter a park with a ‘ghost’ APR.

This is what I would do. The package will give you tickets that you can use to make park reservations, then if the DVC booking comes through you can cancel the package without penalty and buy tickets separately. As @Welsh_Dragon reports above (and per other reports on DISboards), canceling the package won't cancel your park passes - but being the risk-averse person I am, I'd probably link the DVC reservation to my MDE, buy the tickets (from an authorized reseller at a discount) and link them to my MDE, then cancel the package!
