Hi there

Can anyone help? I hate roller-coasters with big drops . . . I can cope with Big Thunder Mountain in Florida as there are only a couple of smallish drops - its mainly going around in fast circles instead! Does anyone know what the Thunder Mountain in Paris is like? We're heading there for the first time next week, and if I don't know what its like in advance then I doubt I will dare go on it!!!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Thunder Mountain is fairly similar in DLP as WDW, however the 'mountain' is on it's own island, so there's a (not steep, but quick) drop going to and from the island.

Space Mountain is totally different in Paris tho, with loops and corkscrews :)

You will get lots of helpful advice on the DLP forum :thumbsup2

BTM in the words of my kids has more thrills but I would not describe it as any scarier than the WDW version. As Luke says there is a part at the beginning and end where you are in total darkness.

Indianne ride has an inversion and is quite a rough coaster.

DLP Space Mountain is a much more intense version than WDW.

A ride to be aware about is Crush's Coaster. This is definitely no Nemo clamshell ride. I would describe it as Rock n Roller coaster without inversions. Many a child comes off this in tears imaging it to be a kiddy ride :scared1:

I found the version on BTM in DLP much much better faster and more thrilling!

I'm not big on rides with steep drops either - it's been a while since I did it and I don't recall exact dips and turns but I do recall I thought it better than the WDW version.

As mentioned previously, the main difference I remember is the start and finish where you dip under the island 'moat' which is fast and dark but no crazy drops.

:rotfl:

This is NOT the ride to go on if you don't like steep drops! ;)

When people ask me I say that the rides in DLP are better than WDW but that there are not so many.

We were worried that the WDW BTM was going to be lame compared to the DLP one as it's a lot newer. But we were suitably impressed and other than the DLP version being on the island in the middle we think they are both pretty similar. :) You'll be fine. There are no big drops, it's all about fast corners on both.

Thanks everyone . . . especially for the warnings about Crush's Coaster . . . I too had been visualising those lovely, gently clamshells!!!!!!:scared1:

I love roller coasters - the faster the better. But both Space Mountain and Indiana Jones at DLP really hurt my neck and the back of my head. Now maybe I was feeling under the weather and was more sensitive but I found a real problem with the padding which seriously detracted for my enjoyment of the ride. Thunder was just fine though.

Me too!!

We found that the front row of SM was a lot less juddery than towards the back. We rode the front twice in a row one day no problems, and then one go at the back gave us both heaches adn bruised shoulders the next day.

We don't bother with IJ, just too basic and out of the way in our opinion. BTM however we happily go on 4 times a day!

I agree!! My main reason for visiting most theme parks is roller coasters, but our last trip to DLP I only went on SM once, it just gives me a headache!!

And like Torsie, I don't bother with Indy either, usually as I get lost when I try to find it it's so out of the way back there :lmao:

Good its not just me then!!! I still remember the feeling and trying to ride with my head forward - oooouuuucccchhhh

Definiatly not just you.
When we were leaving the ride the first time of riding it, I overheard someone say that it gets more jerky and intense during the day as the tracks warm up. So we decided to go in the morning during EMH...:scared1: it was just as bad, if not worse! Luckily I'd kept my nice padded earmuffs on though, so that stopped my ears from feeling like they were bleeding at least. :headache:

Indiana Jones I tripped over my bag handle getting out of the ride, I was too ashamed to go back on it :rolleyes1

I went on IJ once on my first trip however I usually forget it is there so haven't been on since.

I prefer BTM at DLP, and can't stand SM.

I remember when Indy was backwards. Not for the faint-hearted .
