Hello!
I'm working my first big project...a blanket. It is a simple 6 row pattern of
K2tog, y/o and ssk
purl
rep row 1
k 3 rows

I didn't realize that a pretty lace "hole" was really a dropped stitch until way into the work. About 6-8 inches in.
Is there anything I can do???
I just know the great DisKnitters can help this beginner not have to rip this out!!!
Thank you!
Sally

Hi Sally, Your blanket sounds awesome. Are you using multiple yarn colors? (It doesn't affect how you fix it, but I love hearing about knitting projects!) :thumbsup2

Has the dropped stitch unraveled past its original row? If so, you can check out this web page to get it back to the row it was dropped. Once the stitch is back to it's proper row, you can thread a piece of same-colored yarn through the dropped stitch and sew the ends in place (like you would the ends of the project yarn) so it doesn't run.

There might be other ways to fix it, but this (and ripping back) are the ones I know of.

If the stitch was dropped, it probably affects your total stitch count and might offset the yarn-overs on the rows following the dropped stitch. If the yarn overs are offset, you could incorporate it into the design of the blanket somehow, like knitting the last section with the extra stitch added back in so the blanket is symmetrical. Just a thought.

Also, ravelry.com is an excellent website for yarnies and has a huge forum of knitters with lots of knowledge on this stuff. You can try there for help if this doesn't work! Good luck! :goodvibes

Thank you soooo much. :flower3:

Yes, it has unraveled past the original row...and I do know how to fix it when it does that if it's straight knitting. What I don't know is how to do it in a pattern.
I will definitely give those websites a try.
Thanks again.
