I finally got my husband to agree on a cruise date and now it's sold out! When we looked a few days ago there was still availability.... We wanted to take the 4 day cruise leaving on November 21st. Do people cancel? Can we reserve another date and switch if the 21st becomes available without losing our deposit? It is so frustrating to have this happen after all the trouble it took to pin my husband down. Ahhhh!
Thanks!
Lynn

Did you try to book online? Try calling a travel agency. Sometimes a TA can get you in even if it says sold out

Check allseastravel.com or the sponsors of this board Dreams Unlimited...also just checked expedia for you and they are showing available rooms...there will be cancellations all the way up to about the 60 day mark so just check often.

today is another day. All they had were doubles and triples and we have 2 adults and 2 children 2 &7. I tried DU, mouseears, small world, expedia etc. I guess I'll keep trying.
Thanks.

As of 4:20pm EDT, Cruise.com was showing availability on their web site. You can book online or call them at 888-333-3116.

Good luck...

Sad to say it looks like it is because of the kids. When I put it in for 2 adults only all categories come up.

Disney puts a cap on how many children they can have on any cruise (that cap is pretty high) so that they don't have overcrowding in the kids clubs.

Yes sometimes they do have cancellations so I would call DCL or a TA (like Dreams) and see if you can put down a deposit on another cruise and waitlist for this one.

Good luck.

keep in mind that booking a "sold out" cruise with young children probably means you'll have late dinner seating. That may or may not be a big deal to you, but if it is, you might just want to book a year from now (your youngest would be three and old enough for the clubs).

I ran into this same problem back in March when I was trying to book a 4-day cruise for this July. DCL was showing the category that I wanted was full. I went to a few cruise travel agent's website and they would show availability. But they really didn't have availability. Their websites just weren't keeping up with actual availabilities. I tried them all. Sometimes I would get so far as to give them my credit card. Once I did that, I would get the message back that the cruise was not available for this time. Then a few days later, the agent would call and try to get me to book another date (this was cruise.com). As far as I know, DCL is the only site that has actual availability. I know many travel agents can and do give better prices because they get incentives from Disney, but I don't think any of them buy up blocks of staterooms in advance (at least they all told me that they didn't). You can get on a wait list by calling Disney. I got on the wait list for the July 4 day cruise. As of today, they still haven't called me. Doesn't matter though since another date is booked. I guess not too many people cancel.

It sounds like your cruise is full for quad capacity rooms. You can always do 2 double rooms (it's much more expensive because each child is then paying an "adult" price, but it will get you on the ship)

Good luck!

Hi Lynn & welcome to the Dis! I too had a date in mind & when I went to book thru Disney it told me it was sold out! I was almost out of my mind because I was trying to book 3 rooms & there was no alternate date for us. I contacted DU & they were able to get all 3 rooms for me for the date I wanted! Way to go DU! :) The date your looking for is right before Thanksgiving so that may be why it is already sold out. If you can go on another date I wouldn't wait, I would book that date & waitlist for the 11/21 cruise. I would think if you went thru DU that they would notify you immediately if your desired date became available. I'm use to doing all my own travel plans, but I have to say it has been very easy & a pleasure to go thru DU for the Disney Cruise! :o Just my .02 cents! Good Luck, Kathy ;)

How set are you on those dates?

Noticed you picked the 4 day cruise that ends on Thanksgiving day. You may be running into a lot of people taking that week off because of the holiday.

If you can do it, try the week after Thanksgiving. We do the seven day cruise that week each year and it has low rates and less cruisers. If you can do the same, the 4 day leaving the 28th might be a good alternative.

We've done that week before and it was great. A late dinner seating isn't a problem since we both work and the kids are kind of used to that... Our only other option is the Thanksgiving day cruise. We may book that and hope for a cancellation on the 21st.
Thanks!
Lynn

We booked for that week for November 2005!! They are having the 3 day leave on Sunday that week and the 4 day leaving on Wednesday. Makes sense so you won't have a disembarkation on Thanksgiving.

We are planning on going to the park after our cruise.

Not sure if this matters to you, but you may want to check airfare for those dates first. We were originally scheduled for the 7-day Thanksgiving Cruise this year, but switched to a September 7-day instead because traveling on Thanksgiving was astronomically expensive.

Just a thought.

I hope you're able to book no matter what!:goodvibes

Happy sailing! :boat:
