Help on planning a trip.

This site has so much information my head in spinning. I am trying to plan a vacation trip to WDW with my wife and two children, 5 and 7 years. Everything that I list can be changed, expecailly if someone, with more experience, offers their 2-cents. We are looking at going next February, for 7 days, and are looking at staying at the Wilderness Lodge. I was first wondering if the pools are usable this time of year? We are flying and the only outside visit we are looking at, is Seaworld. Not sure weather to rent a car for this, take a taxi, or how to get there from WDW. Also, looking for events that our kids would like. Heard some talk about the Hoop Dee Doo review, and a character dinner or breakfast. Any other advise would be appreciated. The last time I went to DWD was back in 1986. Thanks again.

You are already well on the way to planning your trip. You already know where you want to stay and when you want to go. That sometimes is the hardest part of the planning. I believe that the pools are open year round. It is your choice if you want to go in. They had great weather last month. Some days in the 80s. Who knows how it will be next year.

HDR is a lot of fun!! I think your children are at great ages for it, too. We did it when DDs were 2 and 6 and they had a blast! You have plenty of time to plan the rest of your PS. My suggestion would be to use these boards. I've learned so much from reading reviews and posting questions about restaurants. You could also get the children involved and allow them to pick one character meal each. Personally, I do not over schedule my trips. I usually like to try a few places each visit, do some of the counter service and wing it on some of the days.

I can't give my advice on transportation to Sea World. I know the next time we go we'll be staying off-site for a couple of days to do Universal and Sea World. Most of the time it's much cheaper and off-site hotels usually offer free shuttle buses to those parks too. It beats putting the money our for a rental car if you don't have to. Our next trip will be 10 days so we'll probabally stay off-site for 3 days then move to a Disney resort for 7.

I hope this helped a little bit. I know that planning the "perfect Disney vacation" can be very overwhelming!! Just remember that it is a vacation. Don't try to do too much in one visit. There's always next time!! I like to use this excuse to go back again and again!!

I don't know about Ft Wildernes, but I can help with the character meal. Chef Mickey's is a family favorite for both lunch or dinner. Have fun planning!
