A neighbor of mine stayed in a home at Windsor Palms two years ago and raved about it. I can't post the link since I haven't been on here long enough, but my friend Wendi mentions it in her email below.
We ended up grabbing her friend's Marriott timeshare to stay at Horizons, but we would have booked the Windsor Palms if we hadn't. That Web site will even give you a free rental car for 7 days.
Here's what she wrote to me in an email (I had previously said we were going to stay at the Nick Hotel, but I started looking around after getting her email):
I know you said that you already know where you want to stay, but I thought I'd offer this info. up anyway. We went 2 years ago and stayed off of the resort at a GREAT place only 10 minutes from Disney. We rented a 3 bedroom townhome for a week. It was in a neighborhood much like Forest Lakes (but much bigger)! We could park right in front ... 3 steps from the front door! It had 2 bedrooms upstairs, each with their own bath, and TV, and one bedroom downstairs with it's own bath and TV (bath was also open to the hall). The best thing was that it had it's own PRIVATE POOL!! It was in a lanai (sp?) ... screened in porch right off of the living room ... it would be like sitting in your kitchen with the pool (a little bigger than the WR baby pool but 5 feet deep and heated!) and the pool would be your back deck! The kids LOVED it, as we had to come home to put Lilly down for a nap most days and the older ones swam if they weren't also napping! We all napped throughout the week -- it's exhausting having that much fun! Anyway -- it also had a fully equipped kitchen, so we went to the grocery store (just around the corner) and tried to cook at least 2 meals a day. The neighborhood also had a pool area equivalent to the ACAC waterpark, which we never actually got to visit ... I never even let the kids know that it was there b/c I was crazy about spending time at Disney! I should have scheduled a "day of rest" in there, because we really needed to recuperate after we returned home! We did spend a day at Sea World, too. The entire week for this great place was only $1800! The website is allstarvacationhomes.com and they have something for everyone! I would definitely use them again! I always look at staying on Disney and can't believe the price difference ... but I have never really looked into the meal plans. We probably couldn't afford to have 2 bedrooms staying on Disney.....which means we would all have to go to bed at the same time. With the kids being as young as they are, it was nice to be able to stay up later than them! Also, All Star sometimes will give you a free car rental! Just FYI -- you'll have a blast no matter where you end up!!
