Help! Nov/Mar on wish vs Treasure April

Hi! I am in a predicament and would appreciate any thoughts any of you might have. We are currently expecting and are trying to plan our late 2027/early 2028 cruise. We have two older kids (will be 4 and 7 at the time of sailing) and have a placeholder that needs to be used by 5/1/2027.

Before we found out about the new baby I was planning on a treasure cruise spring of 2026, but that won’t work anymore. I’m pretty sad as I love the theme of the ship and am a big Aladdin fan.

We’ve narrowed down our cruise options, but I don’t feel particularly great about any of them.

Wish - November 2026 (baby would be 6 months)
Wish - early March 2027 (baby would be 10 months so a little less concerning about the risk of illness, but it’s $1000 more and possibly colder weather?)
Treasure- April 2027 (better weather, baby would be nearly 1, way more expensive)

I’m sort of bummed that the wish doesn’t have any itineraries with both of the Disney islands in April 2027, otherwise that would be an easy choice. I’m worried if we do the treasure that having a one year old might make things less enjoyable (sit down dinners, shows, etc) as they don’t like sitting still as much at that age and it’s so much money that I don’t want to not have a good experience.

Does anyone have any thoughts on any of the ship/date options given the age of the baby? I don’t feel like we have many great date/itinerary options that works with the birth before the placeholder expires. My poor brain is tired from stewing over this dilemma so I appreciate any and all input.

It is impossible to predict how a baby will do in restaurants and shows. My kids were great at restaurants until they were around 2 and wanted to walk around. If you find that your baby can’t stay reasonably quiet, you can use the nursery.

As far as weather, my family has done at least 6 cruises out of Port Canaveral in January and February, and only once was it too cold to swim at Castaway Cay.

Of the options you gave, I’d choose the Wish in March. Planning a cruise when the baby has just turned 6 months is risky in case the baby arrives late. If the baby doesn’t do well at shows and meals, you’re right that a longer cruise might be less enjoyable.

Thanks so much for your thoughts! The November cruise would almost certainly be late enough that even a late birthday wouldn’t mess it up, but its probably best to go when they are a bit older anyhow?

What about the Fantasy - some cruises go to both Disney islands.

If you are set on having a new ships have you looked into the Destiny? She does some cruises with both islands.

Fort Lauderdale is a very convenient port as it’s so close to the airport. Might be worth to check out if you find something that’s a fit for your family.

If April 2027 wasn't a lot more expensive, I would pick that because I feel things get a lot easier once they turn about 1 in terms of sleeping better, not needing as many bottles etc. But otherwise, I think I would choose November when baby is 6 months because they won't feel the need to crawl all over the place and be happy being carried/ strolled around more than a 10 month old would so they can tag along easily to whatever your older ones want to do. We took ours at 14 months with our 3 year old last year and it was great! Could you maybe put a deposit on both and decide later after you see if your baby seems happy and easy going?
