Help, not doing excursions

Heading out in June on the Magic - Eastern. Have decided not to do organized excursions. Is there enough time to go to St. John's on our own? Is it fairly easy to do? Any other suggestions for St. Thomas? What about St. Martin beaches? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!!

my family did Dawn's beach in St. Martin. It was very easy and quick to get to. I think it was $18 one way cab fare for three of us. Then we rented two chairs and umbrella for around $12. There was a little cafe close by, and the beach was very clean. Cabs are waiting to take you back to the ship...

St. John is very easy to do on your own... better than taking an excursion! It is, however, time consuming. But you can operate on your own time schedule, and not have to worry about all the other people! Here's what you do:

When you get off the ship in St. Thomas, there will be taxis lined up everywhere. Get yourself a taxi to Red Hook. At Red Hook, purchase round-trip tickets for the ferry to St. John and back. They leave every half-hour. Once you arrive at St. John, get another taxi to take you to your beach. Most of the taxi drivers have 'partners' on the other side, so your driver will tell you who to look for when you get there. I recommend going to Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay for snorkeling. Set up a time with your driver on St. John to come back to the beach and pick you up to take you back to the ferry. It's that simple!!

We enjoyed Coki Beach and Coral World on our January trip. We took the taxi (7 per person) over to Coki. Got admission to Coral World where we toured, and then rented beach chairs on Coki. The admission gave us entry into Coral World all day, so we were able to use their restrooms. Very easy to do.
