Help Needed!!!

Hi Everyone,

We just joined DVC in April, and since we already rented points for this years trip, we are planning for 2013. We have 175 pts and our home resort is Beach Club. We are banking this year's points, but we would like to keep those extra 175 for the year we go to Aulani (assuming points stay the same our trip would be 350), and we plan to use our points every year.

Here is what we would like to do next year. We are open to transferring points or renting points (although I won't be able to do this until the fall). Could someone please advise the best way to go about staying where we would like, otherwise we will just look into booking separately with cash once we are over our points. Right now I planned on booking the entire stay up to our points.

Monday July 1 through Sunday July 7- Beach Club Studio- 134 pts
Monday July 8 trhough Friday, July 12- AKL Studio Savannah View- 88 pts

Well, you can't just keep banking the same points over and over. What is your UY and when are you planning on Aulani?

We wouldn't be banking the same points over and over. 2013 we plan to use the 2012 points. 2014 we would use 2013. Hopefully we get to Hawaii by 2015.

Do you know about the one-time use points? You can buy up to 24 one-time use points from DVC (they cost $15 per point, I think). They can only be bought inside the 7-month window, but that would be perfect if you needed to add a few points to fill out your AKV reservation (which you couldn't make until 7 months out anyway).

I am still looking for recommendations regarding booking. I am thinking of booking as many nights as I can with my points at beach club at 11 months, and then changing a few to AKL at 7, and then hoping to rent or transfer the remaining points at that time.

I would book everything you can with your own points, at whatever windows you can, then try and rent points (which would be a separate reservation) for the nights where you are out of points. I don't think you will have much trouble getting points from anyone at 7 months - provided you start earlier than that to look for them. It is possible you will have a few of your own points left over that need to be banked.

You could seek a transfer from someone first (that would be easier for you), but since you will only need 40-50 points, you might find that harder to do since owners can only do one transfer per year.
