Help - need to convincing DF

Hi all! Here's the thing... somehow I've got it into my head that I want to add an Illuminations dessert party onto our wedding plans. But DF is really hesitant and thinks it's a lot of money for something we don't "need."

Today I was talking to our planner Pam just to see if it was even plausible to make this happen (ie. is the venue I want open, what options do we have, do we have enough people, etc.) and she gave me a great idea. Let me preface by saying that we're planning on doing a rehearsal dinner in Epcot anyway at Canada. Well Pam suggested that since our party is only about 50 people we couldn't do a DP on the Italy Isola (for some unexplainable reason - maybe cause I'm Italian - this is the only place I want to have ours) it's a minimum of 100. Silly me I read wrong and thought it was maximum 100 :rotfl:! Anywho she said that if you do an outside dinner and dessert party the the minimum is 50 people! So of course I'm like ohhhhhh that's what I'd love to do. Because since we'd have Epcot catering we could choose similar food to what we'd get at the Canadian pavilion and a few other things we like too! According to Pam she thinks it really wouldn't add much on to the total of what it would be to do a separate dinner and dessert party - or even to just do a full course nice dinner.

OK I'm finally to the point where I'm asking for help - I know that was a long one so thanks for hanging in there!:goodvibes I need help with arguments or reasons that I can give DF as to why this is an idea worth doing, and help appealing to his financial side that it's not just a whole lot of money that we don't need to spend. So I'd love any words of wisdom you all could provide!

Thanks again!

We've found that the dessert party is the biggest selling point among our guests, and the thing that makes people take notice when we tell them about our wedding plans. How many people get to have fireworks at their rehearsal dinners?

Appeal to his pride in having the Coolest Wedding (Rehearsal Dinner) EVER! :rotfl:

I completely agree with lurkyloo...coolest...wedding....rehersal dinner...ever!

What is a few extra dollars to watch the fireworks with your friends and loved ones with yummy desserts? It changes your wedding from a single party to a wonderful timeline of events.

Epcot is our favorite park and IllumiNations is our favorite nighttime show. We would not even consider a DFTW without an IllumiNations desert party. If you can work it into your rehersal party - even better.

Thanks all - those are some wonderful points. We talked about it tonight and I think we're closer to an answer... hopefully a good one for me :goodvibes! We just have to run it by the folks to see if they're OK with it. I'll keep you posted!
