I've never been an AP holder and would only purchase one if the savings on a room discount were greater than the extra cost of an AP vs. PHP (going in peak season, staying BWI). That said, if I book an AP holder rate on a room (I understand I don't have to have the pass in hand to book the room but show at check in) then regular room only codes come out, will it be easy to switch ressies? When you book an AP rate is it just applied to my current room only ressie (with CRO) or does it become a package with the different rules of payment/cancellation?

Thanks for helping out, I want to be prepared Jan. 2 incase they really do get released as is being reported!

:sunny:

oops, should have also asked for clarification on who needs to have the AP. Can we buy a child's AP for DS or does it need to be an adult?

THanks again.

My experience has been if you have a regular ressie and then AP rates come out you can get discount for that, assuming availability and like rooms, views, etc. The way I read your question is actually the reverse, but don't think you meant that.

I have a ressie with AAA discount (10% off rack rate in peak season!) so an AP might make sense even though I can only go to WDW once in the next year. My question is: if only AP rates are released and I book one this week, then a regular room only code for general public is released later... can I switch to that and not have to purchase an AP.

I guess I was wondering if anyone had done that before.

Any discount will help on a $400+ room rate!

Sorry if my wording was muddled.
:D

I suppose you could but I am going to think that an AP rate is going to be less than a regular rack rate.

And I am probably getting in over my head here on the Resort Board, LOL. So many experts here, of which I am not when it come to working these deals, LOL.

If your reservation is room only through CRO, they should be able to just apply the AP rate (if available). If it's a WDTC reservation, they will have to cancel it and rebook it as CRO. They should also be able to change an AP rate to a code rate reservation. But there has to be availability. They could say the Polynesian is $250 but if there are no AP or code rooms available for your dates, they will not apply it to your current reservation. They only allow so many rooms at discounted rates. Good Luck!

My experience has been if you have a room only room reservation and then get the AP room only rate, you keep the same reservation number and they will apply your deposit to the AP room. I have reservations like this for Jan, and early Feb. of this year and have done this in the past. You don't pay for the room until you check in and the cancellation is 5 days. This is for room only and not a package.

vicb~I understand your question and I actually would like the answer also. Does anyone know if you can switch from an AP room to a general public discount code? I would assume that you can pending availability but this is just a guess.

From what I understand you can change any exsisting reservation as long as you are not within the cancellation period. That being said I see no reason why you couldn't change from AP to general public discount if one came out. That is what I hope to do if I can get the AP discount tomorrow.
