We are thinking about staying at Star Island resort, the rate is around $40 a night for 4 nights and $60 a night for the rest but you have to go through a timeshare pitch. we already own one we hate so i know we can say no!

It looks really nice, but i would really love to hear from people who have stayed, what they thought of the rooms, and the presentation....

The rooms are nice. If you get a 1-BR standard, you'll have a small den with sleeper sofa, TV, desk, microwave & mini-fridge, a bathroom with standard sized shower-tub combo (w/jacuzzi jets) and a BR with 2 double beds.

But, if you get the 1-BR deluxe, it will have a regular, full kitchen, dining table for 6, large LR w/sleeper sofa and chairs, TV, porch, king MBR w/ double jacuzzi and separate shower. Very nice! A 3-BR (where I've stayed) is a combination of both units (lock-off), with the den functioning as the 3rd BR. I don't recall which side had the stacked washer/dryer.

The main pool area is pleasant, though rather adult-oriented (deep water, with a cascading fountain over a "boulder" in the center - and nowhere to grab on, if a child is tired there). There are other resort amenities, also adult-oriented (tennis, lake boat rentals, exceptional fitness room for a resort in that area, upper floor bar/lounge overlooking the pool) and a handful of kids' activities scheduled through the week.

We found staff not terribly accommodating and have heard that the sales pitch was pretty high-pressure (we didn't attend, it was an exchange). But the rooms were very, very nice. Take Osceola Parkway to get to/from WDW and easily bypass all that horrible traffic. There's an exit not far from there (Poinciana Blvd.???).

Since you said you hate your timeshare, I hope you will consider reading some of the Advice articles on Timeshare Users Group as well as the bulletin boards there (free registration). You may discover ways to make the most of your timeshare ownership.

We own four weeks (at various resorts, none in Orlando) and we've loved using them to trade around. We're selling two since we've bought a pop-up camper but we'll keep two. All of them have been great for fabulous vacations! All of t Haven't stayed at any of them! :) Hope that helps.

Wow, you're quick! ;) I just realized I'd left the URL out, edited my post and there's your question already! :D Enjoy! :)

Everytime we exchange somewhere, we have to go the the presentation. We always inform the salesman what we paid for our 5 star resort in Puerto Vallarta. Everytime the mgr has offered us repo's to buy. We've never bought another one. We exchange through Interval International and have never had a problem getting in to Orlando. But, I like to let everyone know. the timeshare people do have repo's to sell. They just won't tell you this at first.
