I am new to this website and thought I might ask the experts how best to handle my situation.
I would like to take my parents to Disney for the first time. I am, by no means, loaded with money...which leads me to this site. I have been doing some "surfing" to find a way for 4 adults +1 child (my husband, my parents, my son...and of course me) for a reasonable price. Many sites mention the rental of DVC points. I tried to explore further but am now somewhat confused! I would like to take my parents in Feb (I hear that is the slowest time at Disney) because of my parents not being able to get around easy. I will prob only be able to afford tickets for 3 days in the park so any advice on tickets and rental of points would be greatly appreciated. I am not trying to "poor mouth", I just want my parents to experience what all of you already know...the GREATEST place on earth!!:earsboy: I have only been to Disney twice and stayed at the value resort.......if we did that again....i think i would have to get two rooms so thought this idea may be better for us. Sorry for the long message.

Port Orleans is a moderate that will cost you less than renting points and will be satisfactory for what you're explaining. The studios at DVC resorts are roomier, but if it's money that is most important, stay in the moderate.

IMHO, your least expensive option will be two rooms at one of the value resorts. You can request that the rooms connect or be close to each other. That way, both families will have their own bathroom and some privacy.

If you choose POR (the only moderate that sleeps 5), you will all be in one room with one bathroom. There will be two double beds plus a trundle bed for your child.

Unless your child is under 3, you'll need a 2 bedroom DVC unit. (The studios and 1 bedroom units sleep 4 plus a child under 3 who can use a portable crib for sleeping). These will be very nice and luxurious accomodations, but by no means inexpensive - even if you rent a reservation from a DVC member. For example, the first half of February (least expensive time in February) will run you $270/night. That's assuming you only stay on weeknights (Friday and Saturday nights are almost always cheaper to rent directly from Disney), stay at OKW and are able to get points at $10 each (average rental price). I'm quite sure you can get 2 rooms at one of the values for less than that, even if you have to pay rack rate. If you could go in January, weeknights at OKW in a 2 bedroom would run $220/night with the same assumptions.

Best wishes -

Have you visited the resorts board on this forum??

Lots of info there and opinions offered on the different resorts.

Good luck with whatever you decide :)
