Help- need advice... what would you do?

YIKES! Red Flag!

Are you aware Interval International does not allow anyone to rent out something that they exchanged for. Against their rules.

It's also against the DIS Rent/Trade board rules, so you wouldn't be able to advertise your rentals on our site either.

Don't know if it would be prohibited by e-bay or not.

Just FYI.

I had that typed about four times, and kept saying "someone would have caught that by now, I must be mistaken."

Wow, I had no idea I couldn't rent Disney weeks... I've always rented my weeks out when something came up and I couldn't use them - I even told the girl at Interval that I was renting it! I was told I couldn't rent Getaways, but my regular weeks were fine.

DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR SSR ONE BEDROOM....you will regret this with a small child...believe me.

We stayed at the Poly last year (which I believe is probably better than the Pop Century Resort). I love the Poly but when I moved to BWV (I was not a DVC member yet) I was in heaven!!!

Sometimes spending a little extra money is worth it to enjoy some relaxation with your spouse and get some sleep. A glass of wine at night on the balcony is priceless!

I have never stayed at a value but I have heard the rooms are small and the walls are paper thin.

Believe me...I would rather eat burgers all week and enjoy a large balcony, kitchen, living area, whirlpool, king sized bed....then stay in a small room that I believe may not even be more than 300 square feet!!!

The rooms at Pop are much smaller than an SSR studio! A studio!!!!!!! So can you even fathom the difference between a room at Pop and a 1 bed at SSR?! There is truly no comparison. There are many options between a Pop room and an SSR 1 bd. The niggly thing I'm not following is if you are happy to stay at Pop (nothing wrong with that) then why would you have even booked a 1 bed SSR in the first place? See what I mean? I suspect you are letting the free dining skew your thoughts. :confused3 :hyper: :duck: :rolleyes2 :crazy2: :scratchin on your vacation.

If you're happy with a room at Pop then I take it you'd be ecstatic with a studio at SSR, yeah? (I've stayed at both, believe me, no comparison).

So this is what I would do..... assuming it's legal and allowed by your timeshare company............

Change to an SSR studio for both weeks for your family. Make another 2 reservations for another studio with the remaining points (or whatever system you are on in your current timeshare) - make 2 separate 1 week studio ressies. Rent out those studio ressies. An SSR studio in Sept would fetch minimum of 900 dollars from a renter per week. With free dining making renting less attractive, sell it for 850. That's 1700 dollars for 2 ressies rented. That more than pays for your DP for your two weeks with cash leftover.

You still get SSR. You still get the DP.

I should have read the remaining posts. It looks like you cannot rent those weeks. What happens to your points (or whatever system you are on) if you don't use them in September?

 PROBABLY?!! The only thing in common is the first two letters.

Actually I'm not a big fan of the Poly as deluxe resorts go though it is lovely but there are posters on the resort board who would scream if they read that their beloved Poly is probably better than Pop. ;)

Definitely keep your SSR reservation!! Pop's room are very small, and it looks like you'll have two adults, two children, and a baby, is that right? You'll be very, very cramped at Pop. We have stayed there occasionally on weekend nights to save points, and I can't imagine staying longer than that. It's very noisy, the beds are only doubles, and there's very little room to move around. And I can imagine especially during free dining it will be very busy. I think you'll have a much more relaxed vacation at SSR, and you can't beat having the kitchen and washer/dryer, especially for such a long stay. Good luck in your decision!

The other thing I remember (now this is from All-Star, not Pop, but since they are both value...) from my one week staying there in middle of August was that the A/C in those rooms had a REALLY hard time keeping up with the humidity. It was a while ago, but I can remember my co-workers and I going to each other's rooms (after leaving them empty for a period of time and then "switching") or the lobby to get our work done (we were working a Disney event) just to try and stay cool. It wasn't like we were jump-roping or anything, either - just stuffing goodie bags. It's really bad when your room is so humid the tissue paper "wilts"!:rotfl: They looked pretty sad.

I would think that with that many people, it might have the same sort of issues IMO. Keep the SSR!

thanks everyone... I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to reply to my post. I am new here and just can't believe how helpful everyone is... I am working on convincing DH for us to stay at Saratoga Springs... I guess I should go and cancel that Pop Century reservation- ack! That is going to kill me to let that room go! It's just not the best option for us, but it is SUCH a deal!!!

Don't do it. We stayed at ASMo last year (we went just for the free dining)-- we bought DVC while on that trip, because we didn't want to ever have to spend another vacation at a value resort. I'd prefer to stay DVC (even if it's in a studio) to free dining at a value. Plus it was a madhouse there.
