Help! Myrtle Beach or Florida Beach?

Myrtle Beach: We went in late May. the kids LOVED it. We stayed in a condo that had multilpe lazy rivers, pools, hot tubs, kids pools and was ocean front.

................

trying a different resort- Holiday Sands @ South Beach condos (got a great deal and we checked it out when we where there in May).

Thanks for your input - can you tell me about these two places? We are considering going in late Aug/early Sept - but it's so hard to pick a place when we havent been in 12+ years.

I :cloud9:the idea of lots of Lazy Rivers, etc - does the Holiday Sands have those? Would you say more or less than the first place? (Mind if I ask the name of the first place?) Which would you say was bigger? Had more ammenities? Was closer to the main 'strip'?

Ok - thats alot of questions - sorry! You can give me the Cliffs Notes version! Thanks!!!:goodvibes

Sure in may we stayed at the Compass Cove. It boasts 22 water features. Literally tripping over pools, lazy rivers, etc. I think there were 3 lazy rivers, too pools to count, both indoor and outdoor, a outdoor kids water feature (submarine thing) with spinklers, & I think buckets. Hot tubs, and regualr kiddie pools, some with rain umbrellas. Ocean front. We stayed in the Pinnacle buidling. It was a condo/suite. 1 bedroom with 2 db, galley kitchen, bath, and ocean front living room with a sleeper sofa & murphy bed. It was roughly a 3 star property. I would DEFINITELY recommend it, and Id go back again as well.

The other place.... Holiday Sands at South Beach is right next door to the above. They have an older motel and a condo building which is just 2 years old. We got an oceanfront 1 bedroom condo with 2 queen beds, and murphy bed in the living room for about $950 for early August. I really wanted a place with an inroom washer & dryer, and this place has one! The property has less amenities (still a nice indoor lazy river, several kids pools, a couple indoor & outdoor pools, and some hot tubs), but definitely less than the above. We toured the condos when we were there, and they are VERY clean and much newer looking than the place above.

Reason we chose the 2nd place for August: price (about 700 less per week). Also, I wanted a washer & dryer. And honestly, in August we will be on the beach more than the pools, so I didnt need quite as many pool features. JMO

Good luck!

Check out the forums on trip advisor for myrtle beach.... there are so many great places there! Late August and early Sept you should get a deal!

Thanks for the hotel info - somehow I missed that you'd posted. I am going to look at them online now! And thanks for the info about the forums on Trip Advisor!!

My favorite real Beach (fake would be Typhoon Lagoon) is Bill Baggs State Park in Key Biscayne (Miami). . . . though there are a few other beaches in FL I'd like to go to (go to travel channel and look up top 10 FL beaches). Anyhow, I went to Myrtle once and didn't like it, the water was too dark for my liking and it wasn't white sandy beaches, it had the darker sand. Sanibel Island on the West Coast of FL is also really nice.
