She lives in NY--has already reapplied for them today, but just received a confirmation that the BC's will be there in 14 business days! Our cruise is 12/6!!!!

Is it easier and quicker to get an expedited passport?? I know that in some cases you can apply for a passport and get it pretty quickly if you're traveling soon, but would it be here in time for the cruise???

AAAAAACCCCCKKKK!:earseek:

I applied for my families bc also and it only took 4-5 days to get here, I think they tell you a longer time period just to be safe! Just keep your fingers crossed.:)
I live in Pa and had to mail to NY for mine also...because that is where I was born at. So, sit tight....and pray! ;)

Kathy

PS- they are probably in her purse or someplace simple & she is just overlooking them because she needs them, I do that all the time....LOL...makes me think I am

IIRC, you need a birth certificate to get a passport. She will certainly need some proof of (1) birth date and (2) citizenship. Even then, a regular expedited passport takes longer than 2 weeks. There is a same-day passport, but you need to go to a main passport center like NYC. I was able to get one for my DD on the same date we were travelling (from Chicago), but that was only after I lost her original one. Talk about "zany"!

Is there any way she could pick up the birth certificates in person? Perhaps she'll need to go to Albany.

Good luck!

I'm trying not to panic--this kind of thing just STRESSES me out!!!!!! If I didn't need the cruise before, I will need it after all this! LOL

Robin--hey! Thanks! I didn't know she could pick them up--I'm not sure if she can get to Albany with her job and all, but I'll let her know this may be an option. She told me tonight that she is looking into trying to speed things up...so we'll see!

Many Thanks!

GF

I'm not sure that they will allow her to pick them up. It depends on the state and municipality. I would suggest that she contact the place that the people with the missing BCs were born and find out if and where she might be able to pick them up. Then again, Kathy might be right and they might be delivered in a couple of days.

I wouldn't totally panic yet, but I would have a back-up plan in place should you need to panic ;).

There are a lot of website services that can get you birth certificates/pass ports fast... Have her try Vitalstats.com. She'll be paying $$, but they have very quick turnaround on getting documentation.

when we were ready to go on a cruise last month this happened to us. one of the 36 people could not find their Birth Certificate
we went on Vital Stat.com and paid for it to be overnighted and we got it the very next day... It can be done...
JUST RELAX

I would call DCL and talk to a manager and explain the problem

Having a birth certificate (and photo ID) or passport is a US Immigration rule, not DCL. You must have one or the other before they will let you board. As others have said, I would contact vitalstat and have them overnight it.

You never know, I'm sure this isn't the first time someone misplaced their B/C. It was just a thought. I had a question regarding our birth certificates Dream told me to call DCL. Guess what!!! They knew the answer. So... you just never know.

Again, it was just a thought.
