Help! My Rainforest Cafe dream might be floating away on the Amazon!

The Anaheim Tourism site has a coupon for Rainforest, I think $5 off or a free appetizer:

Also, Restaurant.com has a voucher for The House of Blues for $20 for a $50 coupon to be used on a $100 purchase. Although it was $7 yesterday- LOL they are always running specials so if you want to purchase I'd wait until they are on sale. So basically you'd be paying $57 for $100 worth of food.

Thank you so much for all the great opinions! I appreciate your honesty. It sounds like the vast majority of people aren't impressed. Some of you had some great ideas on alternatives, though, that would allow us to enjoy the atmosphere without spending a fortune. I think we need to decide if the atmosphere is important enough to us to sacrifice on overall value.

Their prices are quite high for lunch and dinner, which is why we'll be going to breakfast at 10:45 on our upcoming trip. We go for the atmosphere, and not for the food. I actually didn't want to go this year, because last year we had a coupon for a free appetizer and the spinach dip we got made DH and myself sick that night (like, rushing to the toilet sick!) The kids were fine, and they hadn't eaten the spinach dip, and I'm pretty sure that's the only thing DH and I ate that day that was the same.

Of your list, Rancho de Zocalo and River Bell Terrace are both Counter Service, but are both very good. I didn't like Tortilla Joe's, and found it to be mall food court quality food for an extremely high price.

Think about doing this. The breakfast menu is fairly basic (and hard to mess up :p) and we had a perfectly fine morning meal there in May for less than at the IHOP on Ketella. We actually only chose it for the free DTD parking but I like the atmosphere too and I'm glad we did.

I think all the prices at Disney are to be expected to be expensive so I wouldn't say it is out of the ordinary. The food is fine for our family. We have been to RFC a few times & all liked it. Just know that it is a very busy atmosphere so it's expected to not have a waiter/waitress standing nearby waiting on tou. The atmosphere is really cool our kids love it. I think its something everyone should experience.

I don't think they have to card you for the birthday reward. It shows up automatically on your account on the 1st day of your birthday month.

But as far as I know, it's only you telling them when your birthday is when you sign up.

I don't think RFC is particularly expensive, though I live in the heart of LA, so my perspective is skewed.

I would say, though, that the food is crap. On par with Applebees, Chilis, though maybe not as good as these places (I haven't been to one in a long while). If you are going for nostalgia purposes, or for the fun theme, then maybe it would be a worthwhile experience for you still, but from a strictly food basis, it's pretty terrible.
