Things will be just fine. Patty is a shorter name of Patricia..... TSA will be just fine with it....... just make sure to give yourself enough time. You picture will match the name on the ID and any TSA agent with a quarter of a brain will be able to figure it out....... Now, if your ticket said Bob and your name was Patricia......

Thank you!
I was freaking out!

My DD kept asking if they don't let you on the plane can Daddy and I still go!

I can picture it now.... you standing at the TSA checkpoint waving goodbye...... "say hi to Mickey from me!" :rotfl2:

From http://www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/secureflight/index.shtm

At the security checkpoint, TSA strives to ensure your identification and boarding pass are authentic and validate you are who you say you are. Small differences in the name on the boarding pass and ID, like middle initials, should not impact your travel. It is not uncommon for the information printed on boarding passes to differ slightly from the information on IDs, depending on the boarding pass printing practices of individual airlines.

Although you should be good to fly, here's hoping the OP reports back with the experience. It will help in answering this frequent question forfuture flyers.

Just wanted to let everyone know, there was no problem at all with my boarding passes. On our flight out the security guy just kind of did a double take at me and my ID but didn't say anything. On the way home from Orlando everything was normal they just passed me through!

I always find something to stress about right befor a trip!:lmao:

Its not as important for the boarding pass, but IS important for your Secure Flight Information.

I know for my daughter's Delta flights, she had to enter her Secure Flight information on their website which MUST match exactly to her ID. Her boarding pass was wrong (they ran her middle initial right into her first name) and was not an issue.

I always use my full name when I get an airline ticket. Everyone calls me Beth, but my ID and everything says Elizabeth, and that's what's always been used on anything official. If would never occur to me to use "Beth" on an airline ticket. It's an official document that needs to be matched up to official identification. Full name only.

This is a pretty typical thing that airlines do when you print boarding passes...... I have my first, middle, and last name entered for two upcoming flights.... they both list on the itinerary as last name the my first name and middle initial are bunched together.... no big deal....

My older DS's name is pretty long and frequently on a boarding pass, the last couple of letters are not there. Never had a problem.

When my daughter worked for the airlines several years ago, my husband and I took a number of complementary flights. On all of our boarding passes, the first name and middle initials were bunched together. No biggie.

I always use my full name too, that's why I was concerned when my boarding passes printed with Patty and not Patricia. When I booked my trip with Disney I was logged into their system as Patty but put Patricia as my official TSA documentation. Some how Patty is what printed not Patricia. Luckily it didn't matter!

Thanks to OP for letting us know her experience. With all the new stuff TSA is doing, peoples previous (couple month old) experiences aren't too helpful anymore.
