Summer vacation 2012,
Key West, WDW, back to back cruises on the Disney DREAM, and another week at WDW.


Day 9:
WDW

It’s time to move. To move to our vacation retreat, Old Key West.

So, after a good night’s sleep we will get up, have some concierge breakfast, then will call bell services and head down to our car.
We’ll see if we have the luggage transported or if we’ll take it ourselves, but in any case we might head to the Magic Kingdom for a while in the morning as long as we just have to walk over.

At around 11am we will drive to Old Key West and check in.

If our room is not ready by that time we will head over to Downtown Disney for lunch at Wolfgang Puck’s Express

to spend the first of our free Dining Credits. And after that we will probably check out all the shops at Downtown Disney.

If our room wasn’t ready at check in we might go and check out the Vineland outlet store and if it was ready we will then head to Publix to do some shopping.
Once shopping is done we will just relax in our villa

until it is time for dinner and our reservation at the Wave.

After dinner we will head over to the Magic Kingdom for the preferred fireworks viewing,

which comes with booking with the UK Disney Travel Agency and then stay for Extra Magic Hours until midnight.

We will try to fit in some of our favourite rides, before we head home shortly after midnight.

Today I have to share a little bit of countdown fun with you all.



There are NO more months on our summer vacation ticker!!!!!!

4 weeks and two days left until we leave for Florida again!

Hi Karin! All caught up on your plans now. You are making me hungry with all those food pics! When they were building BLT I thought it seemed just too modern and too 60's
but it looks so nice when I see reports on it, and the location is great! Love the MK view for the fireworks! I think it will be on our list to try for sure.

Oh I just love TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only does our ticker only have weeks and days now, but Tom and I went to Passau/Germany for shopping and bought some yummy treats, but the best thing is that today Annual Passholder discounts were announced for our summer dates and I got an additional discount (already had the general public discount locked in) for our stay at the Contemporary resort (MK view, Atrium Club Level!!!)
I was so sure these rooms would be excluded, but they are not!!!!
Sooooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were not too sure about BLT before we became DVC members either, but getting to sample the rooms just changed our minds and we loved it there - the decor was modern, and you cannot beat the view, can you?
We loved it so much we will go back in February!

Summer vacation 2012,
Key West, WDW, back to back cruises on the Disney DREAM, and another week at WDW.


Day 10:
WDW

Since we will have gotten in in the early hours of the morning, we will sleep in today and have some in room breakfast.

Depending on if we still need something for our cruise we will then go shopping in the morning,

or just head for the quiet pool.
Around midday we need to get ready to drive to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for our reservation at Mama Melrose Ristorante Italiano for our Fantasmic Package.
If there is time left we will pick up a Fastpass, most likely for Tower of Terror

and then head to the restaurant. We will enjoy our lunch,

use our Free Disney Dining plan credits and after lunch we will enjoy the park and its rides as much as possible. Should the park be too crowded we will just hop on a boat to the Boardwalk and stroll around and have an ice-cream treat at Beaches and Cream before we head back to Disney Hollywood Studios.
At around 7.30 we will head to see Fantasmic.

After the show we will stick around and enjoy Extra Magic Hours until midnight, hoping to fit in a few more of our favourite rides.

WDW

Again, after having come in late we will need to sleep in a little.
Depending on when we get out of bed we will either grab a bite to eat in our villa or head to Olivia’s

before we make our way over to the Animal Kingdom.

We will most likely pick up a Fastpass for Everest

and either get in the standby line if it is short enough

or head over to Kilimanjaro Safaris.

And after some rides and exploring the park we will head to either Pizzafari or Flame Tree (more likely) for lunch.

After lunch we will probably not linger too long as I guess it will be hot and the park pretty crowded. So we will head back to Old Key West, maybe with a stop at a mall for some shopping. At Old Key West we will either chill in the room,

head for the quiet pool or take a leisurely boat ride to Downtown Disney. At around 4.30 pm we will start to get ready for our dinner at Kouzzina.

After we have enjoyed another nice meal on Disney we will then head over to Epcot for the preferred fireworks viewing of Illuminations.
Once the fireworks are over we will enjoy Extra Magic Hours until midnight and after strolling around the world we will try to fit in a few more rides

as well. Again, we will only return back to our villa after midnight.

I know I cannot beat your free trips, but having a hefty discount is a step in the right direction, isn't it?

Olivia's is an awesome little restaurant, Linda. Not fancy, but very good Key West inspired food. You are going to like it! The servers are so much fun too.
As for staying at OKW - it is definitely Disney's fault that we love it so much. I have always loved the resort when we saw in on TV in different TVproductions. But we always thought we would NEVER be able to afford it. Then a few years back when we had our first APs, they only granted discounts for the Yacht and Beach Club, the Boardwalk and OKW. We jumped on the opportunity and booked a studio for a week. And Disney sprinkled Pixie dust , well, lots of our way and upgraded us to a 1 bedroom villa and the rest is history, as they say. We were hooked - 930 square ft cannot be beaten. It IS a home away from home!!

Day 12:
WDW

Despite the late evening we will have had we will have to get up pretty early today.
I guess we will just grab a bite to eat out of the fridge and head right down to the car to drive over to Typhoon Lagoon which is offering Morning Extra Magic Hours.

And after renting towels and a locker and finding a nice spot to relax we will head straight for either one of the slides or the Wave Pool.

I am sure that a leisurely float in the quiet river will be in order as well.

During the morning we will grab a snack or two from one of the carts and enjoy them while drying off. Around midday we will head to either Leaning Palms or Typhoon Tilly’s for an early lunch

and after a final dip in the wave pool

we will then leave the park as I guess it will have gotten rather packed. And after a little rest in our villa we will head over to the Turf Club for a rather late lunch.

Then we will head back to Old Key West and take another dip in the quiet pool.

Around 6 pm we will get ready for the next part of our plans. We will then use the bus to head over to the Contemporary to check in for the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower for a nice drink and a view of the fireworks.

After the fireworks we will linger for a little longer and then head back to the bus to get back to our resort.
