I surprised my Mom with a trip to WDW at Christmas. She has been looking through the guide book I gave her and stated, "I would really love to spend some time at World Showcase. That is the closest I think I will ever get to Europe.

My dilema -- on our past trips, we have not spent lots of time in World Showcase. I am not all that familiar with the sitdown restraunts. What European country should we eat in?

I am partial to the japanese resturants. They just have a very nice atmosphere and good food at a pretty reasonable price. Plus after dinner its a good spot for viewing Illuminations. Have fun!

I had dinner planned at Teppanyki until she said she wanted to experience the European coutries.

I really liked Chefs de France. We ate there with the CP package a few years ago and for lunch this year. It's a little more expensive then some of the others but it's worth it.
I didn't enjoy Rose and Crown that much. I think I just don't like British food.
I have never tried the place in Italy but it seems to get
mixed reviews.
I think Chefs de France would be the best choice.

Europe at World Showcase is represented by France, Germany, Britian, Norway and Italy. France has the best restaurants - and a very good (and crowded) pastry shoppe. Italy's restaurant (as has been said) gets mixed reviews - and is reproduced in cheezy Italian restaurants all over the US. Germany has an Oktoberfest show going - I think its the only one that has entertainment while you eat. Its a buffet. Norway also has a buffet, which I've never eaten at, but which gets rave reviews and is generally pretty easy to get into at the last minute. I have eaten at the bakery there several times, but the bakery doesn't do a great job of making you feel like your in Norway (the food is really good and pretty reasonable - but the seating is in a patio outside - and not tucked back "in country" so I never really feel like I've left Epcot like you can in the back crannies of the Morocco pavillion. I'm not a big fan of British food, but the pub is a great place to stop for a beer (I don't drink beer either) All four lands do a pretty good job of giving you a feel for the country in the space of a few city blocks.

How long are you staying for? It isn't unreasonable to have a meal and or snack in each of the five European lands during a week stay.

Here's another vote for Chefs de France. I have eaten at all the sit-downs in WS except for Norway, and Chefs de France is my favorite.

European restaurants in order of preference:

Akershus-Norway
Bistro de Paris-France
Chefs de France-France
Rose and Crown-UK
Alfredo's-Italy

The food, ambience and cast members at Akershus are great. The buffet is reasonably priced. It is usually easy to get into without PS, but it is getting more popular.
The Bistro is usually open for dinner only and is expensive.
Chefs is good, Rose and Crown is pretty good, Alfredo's tends to be crowded and the food quality varies. I have never eaten in Germany.
Menus are posted at www.wdwig.com
I hope you and your mom enjoy your trip.
