Hello Everyone. I have a question. I leave in 11 days for WDW with my 20 year old daughter, it's her 21st bday present (it's our favorite place on earth) :goodvibes Well, I told her that the days of mom paying for things are over (maybe a little help here and there but that's it) plus she's going off to college and will be living in another state so my Disney travel buddy probably won't be an option. I'm wondering if there is a web site or something so that I can find a new travel buddy. It will be cheaper (I just couldn't afford to go as often if I had to pay for the whole room myself) and giving up WDW is just not an option.

Well, here seems like a good place to start. I completely understand about not being able to go as often when paying for the whole thing all of the time. That's my dilemma as well. It gets expensive fast on your own for the whole bill. Regardless where you find a travel friend, probably the biggest thing would be to feel comfortable with them. You should make sure to post your exact dates that you'll be there and see if anyone else might be down there to meet up with and get to know in a more casual atmosphere, where you don't have to feel obligated that you're sharing space and find out the hard way you don't get along. I know there are a bunch of groups getting together several times between now and Christmas. If you can find a way to join up with any of them, you might find travel friends in those groups.

For me, it wasn't until this last trip I took that I met some of the other members here and made friends with them. Unfortunately they're all on the wrong coast for me to go as often as they do.

I'd love to go a lot more often, but the travel for me is almost as costly as the accommodations on property, or at least it seems that way.

Just a suggestion. I hope you find a way to feed your WDW cravings.

Oh my gosh "Wasre"......... I live in Beaverton!!!!!!! How spooky is that?

I will tell you that I have been on these threads since 2007 and I have met many wonderful people here. My very first trip with the singles group here was in May of 2008. Most of the group was staying at Pop so I decided to go along. I had a roommate for part of that trip that I never met till he got there. We had a blast hanging out. In September that same year, I had another travel buddy/roommate that I had not previously met that was from these boards. That was also an awesome trip. Sometimes its worth it to take a chance and trust your instincts. Worked for me.

Not as "scary" as it really seems. :thumbsup2 Oregon is a great place with the one exception of being so far from Mickey and the Gang either in FL or CA. Granted DLR is a bit closer, but I find it funny that it's cheaper for me to fly to Orlando than it is to fly from here in PDX to LA.

Nurse Darcy is right, you'd be amazed at some of the great people you can and will meet on here. I met a bunch of people on my last trip down. I met DFD, Sha, Disnut66 and several others. Unfortunately our trips didn't completely coincide perfectly, they arrived a couple days before I left, but we still had a lot of fun. Ask DFD about our time on the Tea Cups during EMH. :rotfl2:If Nurse Darcy's schedule works out while I'm there next I'll probably get to meet her too as well as a bunch of others from here. Who knows, maybe I'll make some other new friends to help share costs of lodging, etc. for future trips.

Keep in touch regardless how things work out for you. Have fun on your next trip too.

My only word of wisdom on this is to go to a few dismeets and get to know the people first before you ever decide to room with them. :goodvibes We have a wonderful group of people on here but we are all human and we may not be compatible as room mates. What you perceive from behind a computer screen may not give you that same warm fuzzy feel in person :scared1:
I too was in on the first May meet and I wouldnt trade that experience for anything in this world, but without having met the person first I would never consider sharing a room with them, male or female :sad2: Nothing will sour you on the whole experience than a messy roommate, a loud roommate, a bathroom hogger, a pouter, etc etc

Hi Lizerbug! It's nice to see another Oregonian on these boards. There are so few of us.

I agree with Wasre and others. This area of the DisBoards is a great way to find others traveling to WDW solo, so once you have your next trip booked you should have no problem finding park buddies - and don't also underestimate the thrill of going to WDW alone. No one else's schedule or needs to worry about, single rider lines to take advantage of, etc. Plus, maybe your kid will still be able to squeeze a trip in here and there. When I was in college I always looked forward to whatever vacations I managed to plan.
