Well here it goes....I'm new and scared to this. Please be gentleand forgive any lack of etiquette. Here's the deal, my wife and I are renewing our wedding vows at disney soon. We both are disney fanatics, she just happens to be a little more open about it than I can be. You see I come across as a tough guy, around these parts, if word got out that I am actually a big teddy bear then god help me, because my reputation and all the work I put into this here persona would be down the drain, (my job requires me to be a tough guy). I am only my true self when I'm with my wife and kids. You have no idea how many disney items I would slap all over my office if I could. Anyway, here's the deal.. I know my wife reads THE BOARD...alot! oh my god does she read this alot. Hopefully she won't find me out... She has been doing a whole lot with the renewal, and I would love to surprise her with something the day of our renewal. the problem is the little twirp keeps doing things that cutoff my plans. Needless to say I am at a point where my ideas are dried up or she has cut off my plans and she will find out. SHE KNOWS EVERYTHING! I don't want anything big or extravagant, something sweet and won't require me to change the BOE, (Did I get the right initials.) I tell you this thing is turning into more of a military operation with all these anacronyms. Anyway, if any of you have any ideas I will try and sneak back on here without her knowing it, she's in the other room right now and i can't help but feel like I'm doing something that I'm not suppose to do. It's actually kinda cool. Oh by the way if you can give me phone numbers or names, if it is allowed, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm a bit retarded when it comes to coordinating things...am i suppose to sign off or something. you know like sincerely or something like that.

lol you are ADORABLE!! :goodvibes

I guess it sort of depends on what kinda style you're going for... and how much money you want to spend. :rotfl:

I know I can't wait to curl up in a hammock on the beach at the Polynesian and watch the wishes fireworks from there. :thumbsup2 It's not real extravagant, but its something small and romantic that I know we'll just love!! There's always an extra special dinner (like at Victoria & Alberts) or a couples massage... :confused3

Do you know if she comes on the weddings board? I'd hate to ruin it!!

Oh Oh oh!! WELCOME to the boards! I'm so excited you posted this! All of the people on the weddings boards are so helpful!

I have a few ideas for you;
1) A Wishes/Illuminations cruise. You two can have a beautiful boat all to your selves for either fireworks show and the music is piped in and its sooo romantic. It does cost a pretty penny and would require your DW to free up a night but it would be soo special! Info on cruises can be found here.

2) A Photopass Photo shoot at a resort. Depending on if you were planning on utilizing Photopass or not, this could be a cute (and inexpensive) option for something special. You get a photographer for 20-30 mins to take pictures of you and your DW at the resort of your choice (right now, I think they offer the Grand Floridian, The Polynesian, and the Beach/Yacht Club but don't quote me, I only know the GF and Poly for certain cuz I've seen pictures.) IF you pre order the photopass CD, the sitting fee is 25.95 + tax, if not it depends on if you get the CD or not and other things. I have examples of the Grand Floridian shoot, because DBF and I did it on our trip if you'd like to see them. The number to schedule the shoots is 407-824-1700 and can be booked 30 days in advance.

3) Horseback riding/carriage rides. These are less personal options (some have other people involved not in your party). You can go horseback riding at Fort Wilderness and rides leave several times a day. Carriage rides are more personal and are available at Fort Wilderness, Port Orleans Riverside and Saratoga Springs. Each resort's ride is 25 mins and can seat 4 adults. More info on horseback riding and carriage rides can be found here.

4) Fantasmic Dinner Package; This option is very casual but can be made very special with some extra pixie dust. With this package, you can choose to enjoy a nice dinner at either Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose or Hollywood Brown Derby and then head over to the Fantasmic amphitheater and you receive reserved seating. (Some of the DISboards members say the package isn't needed to get good seats or the seats reserved aren't great but im just throwing out options! :) ) More info here.

5) Wishes Dinner @ California Grille. The California Grille is a restaurant located at the Contemporary. It boasts an observation deck where diners can enjoy watching Wishes. It requires a regular ADR (advanced dining reservation) around the time of Wishes (the dining Cast Member can help you with timing) and can be booked 180 days out (changing soon to 90 days but call and find out) Menu can be found here.

I have more ideas if you need them! Those were just a few but Disney offers so many wonderful things that can be made special! Hopefully that helps! If you need anything else please feel free to PM or reply here! :goodvibes

Thanks for the ideas, unfortunately, some of these ideas were ideas that I had, but have already been booked by my DW, (I assume that means disney wife :)), these acronyms can geta little over whelming. Heck... I hope that i'm posting this reply right. This board can be a little intimidating for someone who is highly computer illiterate. Anyway, back to the issue at hand. I thought about some of these ideas, but like I said, My wife knows everything, and does everything...she's everywhere, she's everywhere. You see, I get these cool ideas, then, I kid you not. She comes to me and says oh by the way I booked this or I did that. I'm like great idea....crap, there goes that idea. The other issue with this is, there is a serious time crunch. I can't tell when, because that might give away my identity, I bet she is probably reading this right now...I just thought of something. I might have screwed things up for some other guys. I mean if their are women getting married this summer, they could be thinking that their husband is me and they are like all happy that their husband is doing something for them, then when they get there to disney and nothing happens then they may get mad at there husbands....well I will just stick to the man code...sorry guys. anyway, as you can see i'm kinda adhd. So getting back on track, short time to wedding, DW that trumps me, DW that is on the board right now probably at work. I'm looking for something maybe to give her, maybe to take her too, once again i can't say what all we are doing because I may get exposed. but bear in mind all the standard disney stuff, I think we are doing. Is there something I can give like the day of the wedding while she and the girls are getting ready for the renewal. I would call our planner, but I kid you not, once again my wife keeps that planning book with her all the time, if I ask to look at it she is like why, what are you doing. then she starts suspecting, then she starts snooping, then I get caught, yes I always get caught... So my ideas evolve around the day off the wedding now, why you ask, I havebeen informed, that we have things to do with the inlaws and family members up to the day. oooh wait aminute is there anything i can do, like when we check in. I will give you guys 4 hotel options, to cover my tracks let's see if I can get the acronyms right. DYC, DBC, DWL, AKL. how did I do? I am goin to attempt to post. Once again I'm new at this, so help me out if I screw this up.............thank you.

You could have a gift basket or flowers sent to the room while you're out. Check out http://www.disneyflorist.com

You could also arrange something with Gifts of a Lifetime. They can be found at http://www.giftsofalifetime.com They can set up anything from decorating your room while your out to elaborate treasure hunts in the parks.

I have no idea what your wife already has planned, but the Grand Floridian bakery can do a small replica of your wedding cake that the two of you can share.

Or if you have a bit of extra money to spend you can arrange a private fireworks / dessert party at EPCOT for just the two or you. (There are fees associated with this, but I do know it can be done.)

Another idea might be to take her off property. At Discovery Cove you can swim with the dolphins. They even have a Twilight Discovery program that is exclusive to 150 guests at a time and includes dinner and dancing. Check them out at http://www.discoverycove.com

Hmm, that's all I can think of at the moment... I'll post again if I can think of more. Good luck!:thumbsup2

Why not make your own treasure hunt-- Include the kids of course-- Make clues -- maybe one for each day of your visit or enough for 2-3 hours of treasure hunting. You could go to the different beach areas around the resorts. You could even leave clues at the front desk of resorts (with their approval). Make sure you have a treasure chest for her to find and inside it there is some Bling for her. (maybe something for the kids to up to you). take time to write a poem or a love note to go with the gift. I would suggest earrings that would go with the new diamond anniversay ring you are getting for the VR :). But then any diamond goes well with a VR -- her favorite gem stone would work also. Have a fun time. :)

I second the Gifts of a Lifetime idea! They can work with you to customize something your wife could never dream up herself (she's too busy planning your VR - she'll never see it coming!). :goodvibes

Well,I'm starting to get some real good ideas. Thanks for all of your help. please keep them coming. Now I just have to figure what one I wish to try, that is if she hasn't done something else.....again! I've heard her mention you Lurkyloo. She really enjoyed reading you PJ,(Is that right, personal journal.) Anyway, I'm going to attempt to brainstorm a little and try to figure this stuff out. I guess it's all about the time or the lack off that I'm facing now.
