Help me with my (good) problem.

We have ressies this weekend for OKW checking in Friday. We decided last night we'd actually be able to drive down Thursday eve, Nana going to take the kids to school , and have all day Friday in the parks. I booked at room at the Holiday Inn west of the parks for that one night. We're planning on doing US/IOA Friday before our APs expire Labor Day so I was trying to decide on how to check-in most efficiently. We usually get to Orlando around noon anyway so I'm familiar with early check-in and calling for a room later if one isn't ready. But how early can you do this? Would it be possible to check-in on the way to US/IOA that morning, leave the parks mid day and come back to check-in then go back, or just do it Fri night which I'm not crazy about(I still worry about what room I'll get that late)? Thanks.

I'd swing by OKW to check in on the way to US/IOA. Odds are, your room won't be available, but hopefully they will "block it" and you'll get your keys, but no accessiblity at that time.

I wouldn't come back in the afternoon....enjoy your day at US/IOA!

You can call the number they give you to check on your room availability from time to time. If they say your room is available at any point, then you know they haven't "given your room away" to someone else.

I certainly wouldn't mess up a day at a theme park because of the check-in thing.

I can't remember for the life of me! When we called and were told our room was ready, did they give us the room # then and we went right to it - or did we have to check back in at the front desk and have it put on our keys? If they give you the room # when you call, then you would be assured that the room was being held for you - either way, I agree with Granny, too - I wouldn't drive all the way back from IOA to check in - I'd just keep calling until they confirmed my room.

Thanks, thats what I was hoping to do, especially since I'll pass OKW on the way up I4. I just didn't want to go there, stand in line if there's one, and then have them tell me I can't do that at 8:00.

You don't have to go do anything when you call either, just get the number and they activate your key.
