Help me with long, HOT day at DHS?

This year I want to plan to stay at DHS all day. (We are afternoon break kind of people) We'll be at AM EMH 8:00. One son LOVES to have lunch at Starring Rolls. The other one REALLY wants to eat at Sci Fi, which means staying for dinner.

This is not our favorite park and we tend to do a few things and leave, so I am not a DHS expert. It is going to be HOT and DS3 may very well fall asleep in the stroller. I'm sure we'll go right into the TSM craziness first thing in the morning. What can we do in those hours between noon and 5:00 pm dinner that will give us respite from the sun? Any tips of nice places to sit and cool off and have a snack? We won't be doing TofT or RRC.

We like to cool off in the Great Movie Ride....the line is inside! Muppet's is a good place too,the show inside the A/C.So is Little Mermaid.

The Honey I shrunk the Kids play area has some water features to help the kids cool off.

ABC Commissary is a pretty good place to grab a quick bite and sit in the A/C!

If you are afternoon break kind of people, why not maybe head back to the Polynesian for a swim, nap, break?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Have lunch, go back for your mid-day break and then come back for dinner later on.

I agree, we are afternoon break people too, so I'd go back to the hotel and then return to the park

or...take a boat to the Boardwalk / Y&BC area. You could rest in a hotel lobby, but also have fun renting boats in crescent lake or renting a surrey bike.

Hurricane Hannah's has excellent counter service food.

We love the fact that there are characters to visit (inside, in a/c!) at the end of The Magic of Disney Animation. Also, the Indiana Jones show is in an entirely shaded arena, even though it's outdoors (and you get a good long break if you get seats a little early -- I could totally see a young one nodding off and getting a nice nap!). Studio Backlot tour includes some refreshing water elements and you ride on a covered vehicle for much of the attraction.

DHS is our favorite rainy day park because there's so much to do that's indoors/covered, so I don't think it would be hard at all to spend a leisurely, fairly cool afternoon there!

You could do a couple of Idol shows if you are fans. We ended up doing something like 3 in a row last July!

I was thinking that it would take so long to get back to Poly via bus that it would almost not be worth it before it was time to go back for dinner. What should I expect travel time to be?

From Poly / CR, returning to the parks after afternoon breaks seems easier to MK or Epcot. I am not sure we would want to get back on the bus to go back to DHS if we left, but each son only has a couple requests the whole week, so I am trying to honor them.

That's a good idea. I never thought of it. Can you just stay in the same seat as long as you want or is it 'over' and you have to leave and come back in?

Why not split the family up for lunch? We've done that when our 2 boys can't agree on a place. DW and I each take one and meet up at the next destination after lunch.
