Mods if this needs to be moved please do...I wasn't sure where to post!!

Hi guys!! I'm a major lurker who is always reading but never posting!!

We decided today since the kids are out of school for fall break Oct 9-13 that we would make a quick trip to Disney World for 5 nights Oct 8-13.

Some info:
2 Adults
2 Children (11 pirate:& 7princess:)

We are DVC members but are going the week after Christmas and staying at SSR...so we don't have points to use now.

We bought AP's on 8/01 before prices went up.

So here's my dilemma:
What do we do?

I first started throwing the idea around of squeezing in the trip when the free dining was extended from Oct to Dec. Then I realized that it would be smarter for us to book a room only using our AP discount.

I really wanted to stay at a Mod because we like the space and amenities. When I logged onto the AP part of the Disney website the only mod room I could find available was CBR and it was a Pirate room at $124 a night (what happened to the $99 moderates deal that was advertised for AP holders?). We love CBR, but I have no desire to stay in a Pirate room!!

Disney is also running discounted room only rates.

Then I started looking at staying offsite. The only time we stayed off site was one night in March before our stay and it was at a HOJO somewhere in Kissimmee. It was horrible..we were given a smoking room when we reserved a non smoking room...lady and check in was rude...very unclean...lumpy squeaky beds. Just a bad all around experience...so I'm kind of leery of staying off site.

I went to the Travelzoo site and saw the deal for the Nick hotel..I thought that the 2 rooms would be nice...but I really hate having to pay a $25 per night resort fee. Also saw the Comfort Inn LBV for $29 (mixed reviews).

I've looked at several other hotels and just don't know what to do. :confused3 I want the best deal for the most. Since we have AP's we won't have to pay for parking and we are driving down, so staying off site is not a problem at all.

I'm by no means a "resort snob." I just like to stay somewhere that is nice, clean, fridge (microwave if possible), pool for the kids, close to Disney and the best deal for my money!!!

Help me decide what to do...or what would you do if you were me?

Thanks,
Lee Ann :cool1:

I also thought about bidding on a room through priceline or another of those sites. I have never done that either!!

I was able to pull up a std room at CSR for $99 a night...so scratch what I said about the AP rates!!!
