Help me weed out my reservations

so I'd cancel that and perhaps try to get a reservation at Beaches & Cream, which would be significantly less expensive (but may not be available at this point)
One final thing -- we always like to get to the parks for rope drop, take a midday break when the parks get busy, then head back over. Not sure if you have a break planned but spending 12+ hours in the parks each day isn't fun for us anymore.

Just checked- no dinner availability for Beaches & Cream. I don't know why I didn't think of that! Do they do take-out by chance? I feel like I read somewhere they have a to-go counter...

We do have mid day breaks scheduled on most days! I think i blocked off 4 or so hours.

Everyone, I cannot thank you enough for your input! I have cancelled:

Cape May Cafe dinner and breakfast
Bon Voyage Breakfast
Kona Cafe'

Sanaa moved to Sunday for lunch (I couldn't let it go!) Figured we could spend a good bit of time checking out the resort and looking at the animals.

Now I have 50's Prime Time for the Hollywood Studios day, Tusker House ROL package for Earth Day, Lunch at Sanaa on our no-parks just exploring day, and for now I have kept Whispering Canyon for our last night in the parks. Depending on how much Magic Kingdom we get done on our 1st MK day decides whether or not we keep that ressie.

Hopefully someone can benefit from my cancellations!

Thanks again everyone :)

They do not do take out (except perhaps some ice cream cones) and you probably won't have much luck with a walk-up. If you are interested you can keep checking for availability -- people sometimes cancel as the reservation date gets closer. Another option that we like for the food is Crew's Cup Lounge, the bar at Yacht Club. Somewhat limited menu (and probably more expensive than a counter service option) but we enjoy the food there. Note that it is small, they don't take reservations, and it can get busy.

That's great! I haven't looked into Yacht Club's offerings as much. I saw the Captain's Grille and I suppose I have attributed all of my knowledge of YC to that. haha

Yacht/Beach (in case you didn't know) are connected and the walk from one lobby to the next is only a few minutes. We typically stay at Yacht Club but will sometimes walk over to Beach Club for their quick service offering. The food at Crew's Cup Lounge is prepared in the Captain's Grille kitchen.

I think you're completely right about CS over nibbling. Looking at some of the pricing now and I didn't expect $30 for my family to get a taste of something. Great points.

It adds up fast and unless you are having "food" may not satisfy. There are a lot of cs restaurants that have generous portions. You viuld share a few meals and then share snacks.

So in for a dime.... I think B&C is cs food at ts prices. There are other options that may be a better value

If you want to save money on food I would start with getting rid of Cape May breakfast and Bon Voyage Breakfast first off. Breakfast in your room is the easiest and cheapest way to cut your food budget. If you booked Cape May breakfast for the characters, remember that you will get characters at Tusker House as well. You definitely overbooked for Saturday. Tusker House is a buffet and you will get loads of food at 5:50. No way do you want to eat at Sanaa after noon because you won't have room for Tusker House. You would be wasting your money. I noticed that you did not add any money in for your "nibbling". :) Keep in mind, there are 4 of you and nibbling adds up really quickly. You might want to look around at the prices for things you might want to nibble on so you can wrap your mind around it now. Also, just a tip when trying to save money on eating at a sit down or quick service, ice water is free! I know that might sound ridiculous but, man do drinks add up. Drinks are around $3 a piece. If the four of you have just one single drink apiece every day of your stay that adds up like this: $3 x 4 people=$12 for one drink. $12 x 7 days=$84. I don't know anyone who only drinks one drink a day. lol I would think more like 3 a day. 3 x $84=$252 just for drinks and you still need to pay for the food. These are just my suggestions. I hope it all works out for you and you get to do most everything you want!!

And about $50 for a tip if you get them at table service restaurants.

Note that there are some "antics" at a couple of places your are considering. If you like it cool, but, seriously that IS not my bag so you might look at WCC and 50s. Some people adore it though!

I'm taking a different position - I love the snacks in place of larger meals. I don't have a huge appetite and snacking usually means that people that want more can get more, but others aren't obligated to. Seems like it serves every member of the party!
