Help me understand tickets

Let me put forth my understanding of this, and someone please tell me if I'm wrong.

We are going to Disney for a long weekend in May. We are planning BB on Fri. and MGM on Sat. We are planning to do the same thing next year in May '07 but visiting TL on Fri. and Epcot on Sun.

Looking at tickets, if I purchase 1day park for 59.75 and 1day waterpark for 34, that's 93.75. Assuming ticket prices didn't go up, I would pay the same next year for a 2 trip total of 187.50.

If I get a 2day base ticket plus Magic Plus, plus no exp, that's 174, for a savings of 13.50 per ticket covering both trips.

Am I missing something, or would that work for what I want to do?

You forgot to add tax.

It would work for what you want to do - you also get 3 options with a 2-day ticket with magic plus pack.

Do I have to use the 3 waterpark options within the 2 days, or can I use that on a third separate day?

Yes you can use the waterpark options on different days from the theme park days.
