WDW Veteran, first DL trip

Staying at Grand Calf with DVC. I heard there is preferred seating at some of the shows like Aladdin? How do I get this? Is it a resort perk or a ticket perk? Do you have to pay extra

to my knowledge the only way to get preferred seating is by booking through DTC. You get a little coupon book type thing with the preferred seating slips and other small perks inside.

For Aladdin you show up before the show (forget how early but I think it's like 30-60 min early) and there is a roped off waiting area seperately from the stand by area. All preferred seating people wait there. When they open the doors then you get to go in first ( with all the other PS crowd). You pick where you want to sit and then they let everyone else in.

There is also parade PS (which we didn't use) and the directions were to take it to city hall on the day of the parade you want to see ( before a certain time which was 2:00 I believe) and they would tell you where your assigned seating area was for the parade and you would have to get there early. We ended up not needing that as we walked in (on accident) to the end of a parade on Main Street while park hopping and we found a good viewing spot right near the MS train station.

The above mentioned coupon book also had the pin and lanyard coupon as well as DTD dining coupons and advertisements.

And unless it's changed, it was only something like one minute before everyone else was breathing down our necks. :) Make sure you have an idea of where you want to sit before you get inside.

There are three ways I know of that you can get the preferred seating booklets. One, you can book a vacation package through WDTC. Then you get the lanyard and bag tag too. Two, you can book a Passport Plus package through WDTC - we have done this in the past because you can book the hotel only (and thus have a 5 day cx policy rather than the rather strict package cx policy) and later add the tickets (and DLRE tickets if you want them). For the Passport Plus, you get the coupon booklet and the souvenir tickets. Not the lanyard or bag tag. Third, you can go to the WDTC office near the DLH and buy a coupon booklet for $10. It includes preferred seating for Aladdin, Muppets 3D and Animation Academy, if memory serves. We have used it for Aladdin, where it is quite useful. We showed up about 10 minutes in advance and got seats in the orchestra section. (If you show up 10 minutes before and get in the regular line you will most likely be way up in the balcony.)

I don't think the coupon book is available for sale any more. We asked at the WDTC office and they wouldn't sell us one, and said they weren't available. If any one has done this recently, I would love to know?

I stand corrected, then. Last I knew you could do this for sure was in March. Perhaps they have done away with it. :(
