I have planned a trip for our family in WDW next August but there's a problem. My wife does nothing but say that's kinda money thrown away. She says she's sure it's a great place but it's so expensive (flight from France...) and doesn't really share the enthusiasm of the rest of the party. What could I say to her to be more implicated ? I have already told her about the magic of the place but she looks quite skeptical and even tries to convince me to cancel our reservations !!! :confused3
Please help me !! I would so much love she be in the hurry to go.

Hi Thierry

What are your plans? How long are you going for? Just WDW? My husband wouldn't like 2 weeks just at WDW any more so as a compromise we have started to split a 2 week stay between WDW and the beach.

Now how can you convince her? She has to try it just once! August is very hot and humid but as long as you try not to rush around to do everything you will still have a wonderful time - we did last August. If you choose the 2nd half of August it will be less busy as the locals go back to school.

It really is a magical place but you've already told her that. Have you been to DLP? WDW is SO much more :) We like DLP but we  WDW.

I'm not helping much am I :teeth: but just want you to know that someone's on your side :goodvibes

Good luck, Angie

Thank you Angie for your support,

We're going for 1 week from August 19th to 27th. I have told her it won't be as expensive as she thinks and if I can get the free dining package everybody is talking about, it's going to be such a great deal !!
I think she's so skeptical because she thinks WDW is the same of DLP... what could be the reason to go in Florida since there's DLP in France. I've told her it wasn't the same thing. WDW has so much more to offer than DLP !! Last year, I planned a trip in NYC and Canada (from Niagara Falls to Gaspesia) and she had the same attitude before departure. Once in NYC, she was so happy to be there. I hope it's going to be the same for WDW !!

Don't worry. She'll be transformed once she gets here and the Disney magic will take over. She won't be able to help herself! Just be prepared for warm weather and possible showers in the afternoon.

Have a safe journey and the best vacation ever.

Best wishes.

WDW in Fla is sooooo much better than DLP! :cool1: Besides the MK you have Epcot, MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom. ;) Plus you have that great American customer service and friendliness! :cheer2: I'm an American, but we live in Europe and you can't beat a smile and a friendly attitude. I know a lot of Americans grouse on the site about getting poor service here or there in the park, but bad service at Disney is far superior to most service I've gotten anywhere in Europe (including France -- and I speak French). Just to hear from a CM "yes, we can do that" brightens my whole day and my whole attitude. :woohoo:

You might point out that using that logic all vacations are money thrown away. But this is the vacation that you want to take. Has she seen any videos of the place or anything?

No she doesn't yet. Maybe you're right... I should show her some so that she could see what WDW really is.
What turns me crazy is that I'm sure she will enjoy these vacations. But her actual attitude deceives me a bit. I'm angry against myself because I am not able to find the right words to convince her. But you have a good idea... as an image is better than a thousand words... I think I could find some videos from WDW... Thanks a lot for your help. :thumbsup2

I am sure she will love it when you get her there.People who have never been simply can't imagine how magical it is-i get this all the time from friends.
Try not to worry too much. It's the top tourist destination in the world-how can so many people be wrong? :thumbsup2

First, let me just say "Don't worry". I just got back from WDW and had a great time. I always do! However, before I leave for vacation I tend to be just like your wife. If my DH says let's cancel, I'd be OK with it. It's hard for me to get into the vacation mode from the real life mode. I  Disney but you wouldn't know it the week before I leave. I guess part of it is that I don't think of Disney as a relaxing vacation. It's go, go, go everyday. I do that to myself because I don't want to miss anything. When I'm there for a week it just doesn't seem like enough time to fit everything in so we push ourselves to fill our days. The week before I leave I spend thinking about the flight, the long days walking, the crowds etc. When I'm there, I forget the real world and spend the time in the most magical, happiest place on earth! :wizard: All I can say to you is to let her express herself and you just keep encouraging her. She'll enjoy herself, it's just getting her there :goodvibes Have fun making Disney memories~

Get a guide book and make sure she checks at the official WDW website. Having never been to DWP she may be thinking of only the Magic Kingdom. There are so many other things to do here. She may like the water parks, shopping at DTD. Not to mention MGM, EPCOT and The Animal Kingdom. Once she sees all there is to do I think she may have a change of heart. Here's a little pixie dust pixiedust: to get her started. :wizard:

Why not send away for the disney world planning video. we have been the last 4 years and I still ordered it just to watch! It is free and it shows you all the parks dinning and some rides, mabey if she see's it, it will help her get excited!

Unfortunately, it's only for US residents and I live in France. But I have found videos from Discovery Channel on the web. I'm sure she'll get excited when she sees it... and if not, I hope she's gonna be excited when on site.. and if not.. well... I divorce !! LOL

I did a mistake. Videos from Disney are available for US and Canada residents. But they are also available for viewing online. I gonna try to make her watch it on our computer.
