We will be in Disneyworld from 12/3-12/10. We are flying Southwest and the return flight there are two non stops, one at 12:50pm and one at 8:00pm. If I fly the 12:50pm I will have to be at the airport two hours in advace.....and who wants to have to leave Disney earlier than you actually have to?

If we take the 8:00pm flight, can't we just leave our baggage with ME and spend some time in the parks? Does the hotel (pop century) have late check out? If so what time?

If these were your two options which would you chose?

Thanks!

Yes, you call early the day before you check out and see if they will give you a late checkout. If they're not too booked then you'll likely get it, I got a 1pm checkout on my last trip.

Also, call the day before check out to schedule a baggage pick up. The bell services will pick your bags up and then when it's time to check in for your ME bus you just go pick it up. They held ours until 6pm without a problem.

We always choose the latest flight possible!

I'd go for the 8 p.m. flight if there's no reason to get home earlier.

You can't leave your baggage with ME.

If you were flying on an airline that participates in Remote Airline Check-in, you could check your bags at your resort and not have to handle them again until you get to your home airport. Unfortunately, Southwest is not one of those airlines.

You can leave your baggage with bell services. Before it's time to depart from your resort, retrieve your bags and take them to the ME motor coach. The driver will put them into the luggage bay of the coach, and the driver will return them to you at the airport. (I don't think Pop Century has a full bell service operation, but I'm sure there's someone in the lobby who will store your luggage for you.)

Late check-out usually means an extra hour or two. I can't imagine you could get late check-out until your ME motor coach at approximately 5 p.m. for your 8 p.m. flight.

I almost always take the last flight back from Disney going home.

If you are going to a park on checkout day, late checkout is probably not relevant.

Allow enough time to get the baggage from Bell Services. There could be a line of people waiting. At one time (still?) the value resorts strongly recommended being back at Bell Services 45 minutes in advance to get the baggage.

Thanks for the replies!! I think that I will take the 8pm flight.....now that I know I can leave our bags with bell services (?), surely even if the value resorts do not offer the bell services they have some designated spot for this exact purpose.

:)

All Disney resorts will store your luggage for you so you can head out to a park and have fun. Even if you get a late checkout ( I believe 1pm is the latest), you will still have to store your luggage since your flight is late. It's really easy and no hassle at all. Just present your receipts later on and they will bring the luggage out to you when you are ready to take the bus back to the airport.

Just got back from Pop several weeks ago and we did just what you want to do. I left my bags with their bell services until it was time to go. They told me to come back about 30 minutes before we wanted to leave in order to have enough time. And there was a small line. The drop off spot is right beside the DME desk. There's a little pathway between the first 50's bldg and the Classic Hall bldg that takes you right to BS. You can either have them pick up your bags or you can borrow a luggage carrier. It was all very easy. And I would take the later flight also!!!
