Help me save something....

We are going down over xmas, have the hard rock booked for the entire time----but now really need to widdle back the trip. Which days in your opinion could we go to a cheaper hotel and still make out ok over the holiday with crowds(was thinking of the pass perk thing they offer hotel people)
we'll be there thursday 23rd to tues the 28th.
we don't mind moving around a bit, but would like to enjoy the parks while we are there
Oh, we are a party of seven, so we have 2 rooms

We did this! We stayed at the Hyatt Place on International Drive for two nights. The rate was around $90 per night and included breakfast. The Hyatt Place is a great hotel with huge rooms. There are also cheaper hotels close by so you can research those as well.

I'd stay a few nights at another hotel and check into the HR on the 25th or 26th. Remember, you get your FOL benefits on day of check in, so check in early. Also, your benefits go through the whole day of your check out day. So, if you do the reverse, you can stay the whole day at the parks and then go into your other hotel.

Every day the closer you get to Christmas is going to see higher crowd levels. The week after Christmas being much busier than the week before. Definitely stay off site the 23/24, if you must, then move onsite on the 25th.

plus, if you stay onsite first, you will be miserable the second half of your stay ! FOTL spoils you! We went Christmas of 2008 and the crowds really picked up the day after Christmas.
