Ok here is my plan for DS's 4th bday. Between losing his Papa in June, and his house in Aug thanks to Katrina, I want to make this bday something special, I just came up with this today so bear with me and please help me pull it off.

Here is the plan, I'm planning to make reservations onsite somewhere for the 3rd -5th of January (DS's bday is the 4th). How soon should I make reservations and how long do I have to make them being an PAP?

Now we will do a Character Breakfast on the 4th, DS's bday and go to the parks. We will also do parks on the 3rd and 5th. What character breakfast would you suggest for a little boy in love with Minnie?

Ok here's the hard part, DH and I decided today after talking to other guest about Pal Mickey that we would get him one for his bday as he keeps asking for one. I would like it to be in the room when we arrive at the hotel along with maybe some balloons and whatnot. Is there anyway possible to pull this off? HELLLPPP LOL

Do it now! As for Minnie, that would be Chef Mickey I think. My girls are not into Mickey/Minnie, so I am clueless on that part.

But, make the room ressie and ADR now! You are within 90 days.

Minnie? Cape May Buffet breakfast at the BC.

Plus you better try for the reservations real soon. The week you are going is right before the marathon and just after New Year's Day, so it might be hard to get.

I would make room reservations and ADR's as soon as possible. Once you have the room ressie then I would see about calling the resort itself a week to three days in advance to ask about possibly getting a pal mickey, or (which would probably be easier for the resort unless you plan to stay concierge) wait till you get to Disney, check in and leave a credit card to have charging capabilities put on your room and then see if they can get a pal mickey from the gift store in the resort put into your room (it never hurts to ask the resort and see what they can do though, so a call would be fine :teeth: )

Also, on the third when you check in mention that he loves minnie and his birthday is on the fourth...He may just get a special birthday call from minnie on the fourth and an autographed picture stating happy b-day! (and don't forget the birthday sticker at guest services at the MK)

Thanks everyone! I'm going to make reservations this week. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself LOL How I'm going to keep this a secret is beyond me. I told one of my best friends about it and how I was concerned about pulling it off and she said it's Disney, they can make anything happen LOL

I read a post earlier today about having something put in the room... they said the Values aren't as reliable in getting it acomplished... they promised, but it didn't happen until the next day!
Also read about a family that ships a box to themselves at the resort so it is there upon arrival. (I forget what they shipped.. but remember they used the box to ship dirty clothes home...but I digress.)
Anyway that could also be an option... ship a wrapped gift with a card from Mickey... or in his case Minnie. Never tried it myself just thought I'd pass it along. :flower:

Minnie is at Cape May, but the atmosphere is very "calm" compared to the "fun atmosphere" at Chef Mickey. The theme of Chef Mickey is that everyday is Mickey's "Birthday Party". They sing and wave their napkins, for you sons birthday, I can think of no other place for a "party" atmosphere. Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale and I think Goofy.

But like everyone said, do now NOW!!! And you can definitely "pull this off" should be fun.

I also think Chef Mickey's is a more fun atmosphere if that is what you want.
Have a great trip!

For a four year old boy, I recommend staying at Wilderness Lodge. In the am you can take the ferry to the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's, then the monorail over to MK. Don't forget to ask to ride up front!

Until you are checked in the room can be assigned to someone else. So I would plan on your surprise being there later. Make an excuse when you are about to depart for the parks or a meal and put out Pal Mickey then so your child sees it when you return.

If the hotel will not do Pal Mickey for you, please PM me. I would be happy to pick one up for you and deliver it to your hotel so it is there upon arrival.

This is why we all love the DIS  :disrocks:

since you have a PAP, if you want to get a room discount, you're going to have to go reserve the room online thru the Best Rate Program, and you have to do it minimum 60 days out, so I would check now to see what the room rates are under BRP.

I would go with Chef Mickey. It's more of a party atmosphere, the breakfast menu is pretty good, it's in the CR where he'll have fun seeing the monorail go by, and it has Minnie.

i was just going to suggest Feralpeg, but she herself beat me too it.

your pics in some of your posts have such nice gift baskets that you put together and you seem to go out of your way to make magic happen.

OP - also suggest chef mickey's for your son's B-Day and his minnie love. he can find her there and if he has his birthday sticker on and you be sure to tell a CM and/or minnie herself that he has a huge crush on her - they are almost certain to make him feel special. I also ditto the info to book now. change later if you have/need to, but book the room now. at least you will have something.

- lori

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Feralpeg - I'll keep you informed of everything, as I may need your help. I'm assuming your in the orlando area also. LOL

I am very close to WDW and would be happy to help. By the way, Minnie is almost always in attendance during the evening at Liberty Tree Tavern.

I vote for Cape May Cafe breakfast...it's my favorite and I think he would get more one on one time with Minnie since it's not as crowded. Plus she's in her beach outfit, how much more FL can you get?
