On accident i recieved the Unofficial Guide to DisneyLAND 2010. So now I WANT TO GO!!!!!!!

We go to Disney World around 5 times a year, its just a 2 hour plane ride from Louisville, KY. We use skyauction so we stay a week for just $200 and get an annual pass, so we never even thought about going anywhere else. But mom wants to travel other places before she gets too old (her words not mine). Flying southwest will be pretty cheap but thats the only thing I know I want. Everything else I need help with. How many days to do Disney? Which hotels are good and not very expensive? What else is there I really need to do? Want to see the ocean, but where should we stay on the beach? Should we book rooms all the way down to San Diego and stay in different towns? What time of year is the best to go?

Please help me!!!!

Yeah, that hydrodude has some good thoughts in his wee little noggin. :)

Read through his stuff, then come on back with more questions!

I'm not the best person to ask how many days...I've been a gazillion times this year (OK, maybe not that many) and we're going again. And we still haven't seen or ridden everything we want to see/ride.

I think that San Diego is an obnoxious drive to make more than once, so if you're going to visit SD, stay down there for that part. Then make your way on up for DLR and the other Anaheim-area things. If you don't get a car, the Amtrak Surfliner is a lovely way to get up to the Anaheim area (or down to the SD area).

OK that's enough outta me. Go read that link; it's all good info.

Thank you soooooo much! I am a west coast virgin. The farthest I have been is Denver when I was 12. I was thinking take a quick trip out there and do disney for 2 or 3 days and I would be done. Mom says NO!!!! She says we have to do a lot more than that. So I asked what else is there but disney? She says everything but I didn't know where to start. So I'll start with your web site and then get back to you. Thanks again, Becca

to get a good idea you will want to read our "southern Ca " board too.....maybe even the Vegas board!

DH and I just came back from our first trip to California. I found travel guides very helpful (I used Fodors). The hotels and restaurants recommended in the guides were all great finds. We toured Hollywood (Warner Bros. studio tour is fun), LA, Venice Beach and Santa Monica (ride the ferris wheel!). Then we traveled north to Pismo Beach (stayed at Cottage Inn by the Sea) and visited two wineries in Paso Robles, and ended the week at the DLH.

There is lots to do in So Cal besides Disney, granted we don't ever do anything besides Disney.

You can go a little north and do Magic Mountain for the day. You can go to Hollywood. You could go to the beach. You could probably spend a whole week in San Diego and go to the Zoo, the Wild Animal Park and Sea World. There is tons to do!

:wave2: subscribing!! I, too, have thought about doing the DL thing. Having only done WDW many times, and wanting to broaded our sons horizons, we found it could be a great balance! DL for a few days and the some National Parks for the rest. Coming from NH is going to cost us just under $2,000 for all 5 of us to fly there :scared1:... We figure we need to get at least 10 days in to make it worth our while....

I am not wanting to thread jack here, but I am very interested to read more posts!! Looks like I will have to buy a Travel book for Disneyland. Dang it!

Don't forget, there's all of Northern California as well. :)
