Help me plan our Disney trip. Any Disney planners would like to help?

Hi!

I haven't planned in a long time. But even so, we did have a great time. We will be there from March 29 Tuesday- April 2 Saturday. We will have our own rental car and we are staying on-site at the ASsports. My children are 6 and 8.

I know we are going during the busiest season and that is why I need your help to plan this trip. We would like to do MK, Epcot, maybe half day at AK and half day at MGM. We would like to do one character meal. We would also like to go to DD.

Anyone care to help me plan our trip? We would like to take advantage of EMH in the morning and at night. Thanks!!!

Wow.. I can't believe I am actually going to plan this time! I started looking at the EMH. And here is what I am going to do.

(We arrive at our resort about 12 noon ~March 29~Tuesday)
AK~ EMH night~ March 29

MGM in the morning/take a break/MK~EMH night~ March 30

MGM in the morning/take a break/Epcot~EMH~ night~ March 31 (We may do a non-Disney this day... possibly SeaWorld)

MK~ EMH~ morning~April 1/take a break/Epcot at night

Ok... so what now? Where would we want to eat? No Chef Mickey's nor Crystal Palace for us.

Now... how do we tackle the parks! Which ride first... that is the question! And more questions later.

Hi Telly! your plan sounds great so far. I guess where I would go from here, is to decide where you want to eat and what day/time you want to do character meals? Do you usually prefer counter service or sit-down? IMO after you know where you're going to eat, it gets easier to plan which rides to do first so you can work your way closer to your restaurant.

Just a little advice, here. If you kids are able to stay up late at night, and MK is open late most nights(which it looks like it is) go to the MK on a non EMH night. This past Pres. week, we "bopped into" MK on Monday night around 10PM (it was open until midnight). We did Aladin Magic Carpets, Pirates, BTMR, HM, watch the late showing of Spectro Magic with NO CROWDS and NO WAITING, then did Peter Pan, I think another one, Buzz Lightyear, and Space Mtn (which broke down while we were on it right around midnight). If we hadn't watched the parade, we probably could have done everything.
We went again Wed night for EMH, this time going in around 11PM, and while we did pretty well as far as lines go, the parks did really not thin out until about 1:30PM. And I was talking to some people the next day that waited in some lines for 45 minutes after midnight.
Oh, and don't always believe the ride times - especially close to park closing time. More than once, we saw rides posting wait times of 20 minutes that were walk ons.
So I would think about doing parks opposite the EMH nighttime hours.

Thanks Jenny and thanks Rpsemont for the insights. Yes, I would like to take advantage of that EMH. This will help us enjoy the rides rather than waiting in line forever. ::Crossing fingers:: hopefully my kids can stay up late or wake up early enough to do the EMHs.

I need to figure out which rides to do at Fantasyland first. Maybe I need to do the most popular rides first to make sure I don't get stuck in a long line. And which FP to get first as soo as we get to MK and what's the next FP to get after the first ones are used.

OK... sooo... I don't think my kids really care to see who characters they want to meet. So... I think "I" want to see Alice. I need to see what resorts is she staying at and if it's breafast or dinner. If not... Hmmm... Garden Grill will be close during our stay I think, so that is out. What are some places to eat with characters in the parks? Ok... more research I need to do.
