We've been to Disney most years for several years now. We're a bit tired of heat and crowds and DH and I went Columbus week 2014 and thought it was perfect. That trip, we stayed at Universal, but did one MNSSHP and a minute at DHS (DH lost his wallet the morning of our departure and realized as soon as we got to DHS). We had planned a few evenings for F&W, but there was a deluge and we ended up stuck in our hotel at Universal. Despite that, we had a great time!

Now we want to take the kids back and probably do both WDW and Universal. Kids will be 13 & 15 and would probably do okay with Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. They really want Universal more than Disney as they're total Potterheads right now and have only been to Universal twice, but Disney many times.

How would you plan your week if you went Columbus week and split your time between the two parks? We haven't seen Pandora yet, I loved MNSSHP due to the low crowds, and we just love DHS and mama wants F&W. Assuming we have 7 nights, should we do a split stay between the two? Stay at one and vist the other? I've considered all of the following:

  • A week at WDW only
  • 5 WDW/2 Universal
  • Stay at Universal, but do MNSSHP and F&W
We will definitely go back to WDW for a Disney only trip after Star Wars world opens.

2 days at Universal, 4 at WDW and 1 to do whatever like Seaworld. Staying at WDW would give you the advanced ADR's and FP+ and would make a great vacation.
