help me pick a value for October break

Hi all

I am planning a week long trip to WDW over October break (15-21). I am planning this trip as a budget trip and surprise for BF birthday. I plan to write a letter from Mickey to give to him on his birthday while we have dinner at the Blue Bayou in DL. Anywho...my budget is tight so a value resort it is.

So here's some info...just the two of us are going. I have been to the world and he never has. I have stayed at POP and Movies and enjoyed the theming at both. Hate the beds but otherwise good times. My BF thinks the sports look likes a winner but I'm not so sure. Is it going to be swarming with POP warner and cheerleaders? How about music? I'm ok with a repeat at POP or movies.

Any opinions? tips?

Don't think you have to worry about Cheerleaders in October. We enjoy Movies, BUT the Art of Animation is now open and since it is brand new I would choose that one.

Good thinking but the regular rooms are only Little Mermaid theme which does not appeal to me at all. The other rooms are suites and outta my budget.

I'd go with PoP I think the themeing is great for adults

There's a 20% off Pop for your dates so that should help a little!

I had a feeling POP would be the most loved one here on the boards.

I was chatting with my BF and he got really excited about the Mighty Ducks section at Movies. He's a HUGE hockey fan so now I really don't know what to do.

Does anyone know if I request the ducks section if we'll have a good shot at getting it? I'm thinking since it's not too close to the lobby and such we might. Oh decisions decisions...

I did see discounts at the all stars for 76 a night and 80 a night at POP...so not too bad

A little off topic but if you do decide to star at Movies and get Mighty Ducks and use Disney bus for transport we have found the Ducks are actually closer to the bus stops at Music. When we stayed at Movies we would walk the short distance to Music to get on buses.

called WDW and here are the rates for our stay at least the first 4 nights..waiting on a voucher from AKL for the last nights

POP 360-AP rate 337, Movies only preferred rooms are available 472, sports 343-AP rate 322

So pretty even in the rate department...hmmmm

I think my top choices are POP request 80s section, Sports request baseball section and Movies request Mighty ducks section. I know BF choices are in the opposite order.

that's ok with me! I like the quieter areas the best. Plus the theming really appeals.

Well here's the final decision at least for today. IF I can get a discount at movies for standard room then we stay there otherwise it's sports and request the baseball section. SO excited...DL in 3 weeks and WDW in 6 weeks.
