What should I name my son?

I vote for Quinn only because it is not a common name and it's shorter.

Only thing to warn you about, and only one thing because it is a very cool name that everyone who hears it loves so much, is that its tough for toddlers to say - it comes out Tinn or queen  but that only lasts for a little while - then they become stud muffins, oh again

I voted for Quinn. Too many Alexanders here.

While I really like the name Quinn, I voted for Alexander. I like the initials ACC better than QAC. See what I mean? Is there another choice for his middle name? I know, probably not a big deal.

I was aware of the initials QAC, but I can't for the life of me come up with a better middle name for Quinn. Hey, I'll take suggestions on that too. Another reason we chose Alexander for the middle name was that he could always use that if he hated Quinn.

To whomever mentioned that "Quinn" is hard to say, my other son's name is Sebastian. That's much more difficult.

I love Alexander Cole and the nickname Xander. Even if there are a lot of Alexanders, most of them are known as Alex, not Xander, so I don't think that it would be too common.

I odn't like "Xander" for "alexander" -- frankly, it sounds like you're trying too hard to be "different".

Everybody's building the big ships and boats
Som are building monuments, others jotting down notes
Everybody's in despair, every girl and boy
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here everybody's gonna jump for joy
Oh come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn.

Oh you know I like to do just like the rest
You know I like my sugar sweet but guarding fumes and making haste
You know it ain't my cup of meat
Everybody's out the trees, feeding pigeons all under the limb
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here the pigeons gonna run to him
Oh come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn.

A cat's meow and a cow's moo to you know I, I could recite them all
Just tell me where it hurts you, honey, and I'll tell you who to call
Nobody can get asleep, there's someone on everybody's toes
When Quinn the Eskimo gets here everybody's gonna want to doze
Oh come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn

I like Quinn also....not a real popular name...that is until you name your kid that then it seems like everybody has a Connor or Delaney...(my 2 kids that I thought were original)

Why is everyone so upset over common names? Unique names serve two purposes. One, to reinforce the 'unique' or 'special' characteristic that every parent should ALREADY have for their child, regardless of what their name may be. Two, to bring attention to the parent. Unique names are also great for singling out children as well. I'll cast a vote for Mike, Bill, or Steve.

I see you will be naming your son either Alexander or Quinn. I hope this helps.

Miss Cleo, your powers are just humbling to me... :worship:

I like Alexander Cole personally. I have never liked the name Quinn. Also, my son's name is Alexander and I know of no other Alex's in his kindergarten class. Also, nothing rhymes with Alex so the other kids can't make too much fun of him or his name. I also like the name because they can be Alex when they are little and if they become a lawyer, then they can use the more professional "Alexander."

Hyzdufan, I TOTALLy agree. My husband and I hate the new trend in names where it seem to be to name your child something weird or change the spelling to something totally off the wall just to be different. In our newspaper, there were actually two children with the names of "Tracker" and "Rafter". Now I ask you, what kind of names are those unless your child is going to grow up to be Daniel Boone or a roofer??? Just my opinion, though.

DD is an Alexandra, so I had no choice! As for making fun of Alex or Zander, all they have come up with so far is Alex the balex, and she loves it! She likes less what I call her- Zandrie.

The name Quinn Carpenter has a nice catchy ring to it.

It's sounds much better than Xander Carpenter.

I have heard the name Xander, and like it, but have NEVER heard Quinn!

We have a friend whose son is an Alexander called Andy.

 <--- (Daniel Boone in a coonskin cap)
If only I could find that ROFL smiley...

I voted for Quinn. :bounce: Nice strong name. I know both boy Quinn's and girl Quinn's.

We named our DS Hunter in January of 1996. At the time it was very unique. Unfortunately now we hear it all the time--boys and girls. Watch out for trendy names. You may regret it. :( Anyway, he's a Hunter Perry.

Xander Carpenter. maybe. Whatever you call him will sound "right" after three months anyway. :)

What do you call Sebastian? If you call him Sebastian, I'd call Alexander "Alexander." I didn't have a strong preference until I read your other son's name. Sebastian and Alexander just sound like they belong together. I also picked up on the "QuAC" initials. Having gone to school with a girl whose initials were SAP (and fit the image), don't discount the power of kids to use initials to tease.
