Lorcana on Magic

I just read an article from an author who experienced Lorcana on a Disney Magic cruise (with exclusive foil collecting opportunities)— does anybody know if it happens on every cruise? How long the sailing must be? How long it will continue? Can you book it before boarding or only onboard (it appears to require you to select it as an onboard activity in the app)?

Trying to decide if we should book a last minute voyage.

I was on the TransAtlantic cruise last November, on the Fantasy. One day I found a packet on my fish - it was 5 Lorcana cards and an invitation from a couple - it had their names and Cabin number and a time and place to meet up. I didn't know what Lorcana was and wasn't interested. In my instance, it was not sanctioned by Disney Cruise Line but a meeting place was provided - maybe they could reserve something? Don't remember where the Meet Up was. It was a "come and learn the game" invite. No clue if it would happen on every ship - has to be someone outside of DCL who would organize it?

Maybe check here? There is a CONTACT button.

The Magic already did its Panama Canal crossing over to the Pacific. It’s going to be heading to Alaska soon. Those cruises start in May.

It might just be an activity onboard that you show up to like trivia or learn to draw. I did the Halloween on the High Seas on the Treasure last October. One of the treat stations was passing out Lorcana card packs instead of candy.

It appeared on the app when we boarded the Panama Canal cruise. I had thought I saw one "starter" session where the foil card was explicitly mentioned and one more for it later on, but every day thereafter I only saw 'meetups' here and there for folks who already had sets with no foil mentioned. I had planned to do it the second time as I was busy the first, but it must've filled up. I never saw it again after that first day.

Thank you!

I’m not sure if I’m able to reference other website here but a different Disney blog/site suggested it was an official meetup that you had to sign up for and at least one option had a cost attached.

Now I’m wondering if it’s actually going to be on the Magic during its Alaska season or if it was just an offering on the longer repositioning cruises.

Was on the Magic for the panama canal cruise and there was Lorcana everywhere. Meet ups, trading sessions, competitions, and plenty of cards and paraphernalia to buy. Didn't know it was even a thing.

Lat week on the Magic, there were two events that needed to be booked in Onboard Fun after boarding. These were hosted by cruise staff. The first was a challenge event that did have the opportunity to earn 2 special cards (Mickey Pirate Captain, Minnie Pirate Lookout). You also received 2 Azurite Sea packs. Everyone was trading and borrowing freely, and I think everyone in the room got both cards. This event was free. The second event was paid and cost $99. It came with a swag bag with a playing board, collector's guide, and at least 5 packs. I think there was something else, but I cannot recall. This also had a challenge event that did have the opportunity to earn 2 special cards (Daisy Duck Pirate Captain, Donald Duck Buccaneer). This had fewer people. but everyone got both special cards. In addition, if you spent $50 or more on Lorcana products, you got a special card (Goofy Expert Shipwright). We were told these cards were only available on the Magic. In additional to these, there were also some casual meetings listed in the Navigator.

Thank you! This is exactly the info I was looking for. Do you mind sharing if it’s a long cruise or a short cruise?

What did you have to do to "earn" the special cards at the two big events? Do the staff teach the game, or are you expected to already know how to play?

You can play the game, and some people did. Other people just like to collect the cards. No one was playing at the special events, but there were people who played at the other meetups.

You will get a little folder that says Quest at Sea. Inside will be a pack of 12 cards and images of 4 cards that you need to find to get the Mickey card. If you do not already have your own collection, you will need to trade or borrow to get the 4 required cards. Then you will get the Mickey card and repeat the process for Minnie. I hope this makes sense.
