I got a new parakeet yesterday!

I used to have two, but then last year in March, on eof them died. So the other has been alone all that time. I didn't worry about it much, until we got our new cat, Spotty, in December...Honey has always just looked at the bird cage and moved on, but Spotty always wants to go right up to the cage, to 'investigate.' Always worried me, so Adnaan (the original bird) has been either out on our patio or in our office by himself. :(

So I got the new brid yesterday to keep him company...she's blue and white, and so far, very active! And she lets me pick her up, which is cool. Though she did bite my finger today, but it's only been a day.

Any name suggestions? A girls name fit for an active, seemingly happy, blue and white parakeet? I'll try to post a picture soon.

Congratulations on your new budgie! :) We have 3 cockatiels named Fred, Ziggo and Xatu. Our budgies are Max (f), Tweety (m), Sylvia (f), Bob (m), Jerry (m), Zapdos (m) and the babies Alex, Buddy, Cosmo & Dory, genders unknown. For whatever reason, our pets names just come to us, but mainly me. We have a 17 year old cat named Schmoo (f) (we recently lost her sister Allie) and two almost 6-month old kittens named Ginger & Koko - both female.

Skye is a nice bird name...or maybe a Disney character?

How funny! We used to have a cat named Smurf, but somehow, her name got shortened to Schmoo.

My pet's names usually come to me too...I'm sure it will with this one! Keep the suggestions coming in the meantime.

Not to original, but Lady Bird.

I've never tried to name a bird before. Do you want it to be Disney?

Gracie. Its a tradition in my family. girls are gracie and boys are george.

once we bought a 'gracie' who hadn't reached sexual maturity and turned into a 'george'. I.E. his nose turned blue, and we knew it was a boy. He killed the other george before we could get them apart. (one was young and the other george was old) so we had to buy a new (MATURE) gracie. so make sure that it is infact, a girl. :scared:

Okay, she has been named...thanks for all your suggestions...though I wound up going with something completely different!

Her name is Daphne!

Partially inspired by JESW...when you mentioned your cat Schmoo, it reminded me of my old cat Smurf, and the parakeet we had at that time, who was named Scooby Doo. I started thinking about that cartoon, and lo and behold, out popped the name!

Thanks everyone!
