Help me maximize our one day in DL...

We will only have one day to explore DL and DCA in August and it will be a Saturday at that. The park is open until midnight that day and we have reservations at Club 33 for dinner. I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to get to many of the rides and see a little of DCA. We've spent a lot of time in WDW, so, some of the rides I don't care much about like Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, etc... I would like my DH to do Soarin as he hasn't been with me in EPCOT for that. My other musts are Indiana Jones (if open, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and then some of the rides in FL that are only in DL. I'm waffling on the Matterhorn. I don't remember if I liked it or not. What is the Monsters Inc ride like in DL? We love that movie! Also, any recommendations on a nice, quick lunch would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Editing: OK if the site wonkiness of putting replies before the question continues, we're all going to have to revolt! Sorry, Joy2theWorld, it's a problem the whole site has been having, in case you haven't noticed that today and yesterday.

Monsters ride is a "dark ride", and VERY fun, IMO. I couldn't go on it during my solo trip b/c it was being refurbed, but I would have done so even without m son. I like it. :) Take a deep breath as you enter the sushi restaurant!

It's just you and your hubby?

Sounds like you've been to DLR so this might not be needed, but remember, Space Mountain at DL is very different than WDW. So be sure you're not thinking of WDW's Space when deciding to not go on it. :)

I've actually read that WDW's Space is more like the Matterhorn than anything else, so if you don't like WDW's space, you might not like Matterhorn (but what do I know? I'm only typing what others have said, when I talk about WDW).

I saw people lining up at Guest Relations right near Lost&Found to the left of DCA before DL had even opened, to check in for Club 33. So if you go very early to the parks, you won't be alone in checking in!

I've realized I have another set of DL/DCA maps from our May trip (I brought home several sets and sent them out to Dis'ers a couple weeks ago); if you'd like me to send the maps to you, just PM me with name and address. It might help you plan your day, to have a "real" map in front of you. :goodvibes

Since it's a Saturday and you won't have Magic Morning (oh wait, are you staying over night? if so, are you staying on-site? If you're staying and staying on-site, if you check in VERY early in the morning you could take advantage of the MM that day, in which case, do Fantasyland during MM and ignore the following), you might want to do the Fantasyland rides later in the evening. So in the morning you'd get to the gates of DL bright and early, and go find Indy, JC if you'd like, Pirates, HM, maybe Splash since you'll be near there? You could get those done fairly quickly, if you're at the gates early.

Depending on how early it opens and how quickly you get those done, you might plan on hopping to DCA to get FPs for Soarin' (or just go on it if you're there when DCA opens, b/c it generally opens at 9:30 which not everyone knows).

If you're into bigger coasters, Screamin' is a good one, and you can get that done quicker if you're willing to not ride together, but instead use the Single Rider line there. I always do that line, and I can never see my seat-mate anyway, so if I were riding with my hubby it would hardly be like riding together anyway.

If you bring a chance of clothes or a poncho, definitely try out Grizzly River Rapids at DCA. It's a wonderfully fun ride. Others can chime in on Toy Story Midway Mania, b/c I haven't any idea of what the lines will be like by August.

You could have lunch at DCA, perhaps at Wine Country Trattoria, which is a table service restaurant that many people enjoy. Or perhaps get a soup or chili or a salad in a breadbowl at Pacific Wharf Cafe? (lines are long there, don't go at "lunchtime")

Then later you can hop back (perhaps changing clothes if you've gotten drenched anywhere, or messy, LOL) toodle around DL some more. Depending on the time of your reservations, get on the FL rides before or after Club 33...

Hope my thoughts help. Let me know if you'd like me to send you the maps.

While your planning your day, remember that Monster's Inc. is actually in DCA not DL.

If you are eating at Club 33 I wouldn't recommend a big lunch, so the Pacific Wharf bread bowl idea would be perfect.

Haunted Mansion and Pirates are very high capacity rides and usually don't have longer lines, so I would leave them both until the busier part of the day (afternoon).

I would recommend seeing a parade at DL - either the Parade of Dreams or if running and it doesn't coincide with your dinner ressies the Electrical Parade at DCA. The Parade of Dreams runs twice a day, the electrical parade once.

If you have time, watch the Aladdin Show in DCA (and if you like shows of course!) It's really well worth it, gets you into AC, and doesn't require a long wait.

If you have specific questions please ask!

ETA: Usually DCA opens half an hour before official opening time, with only Soarin' open. You could spend the morning in DL and head over for DCA's opening to ride Soarin'.

Thanks for the suggestions. The bread bowl sounds yummy if it isn't too hot (something tells me it will be) in August. I've been to DL twice before, but the last time was 10 years ago. So, I'm sure there are lots of changes... DCA is one. We aren't staying on property, so, the Magic Morning is out. However, we will be there when it opens to other guests and hope to stay until closing. Chances are we will have to return to the hotel to change for dinner as there is a dress code at club 33 and I'm not sure I can convince my husband to wear pants all day in the heat.
