Help me handle the heat

Arrive 30 minutes before the park opens, and get as much done as possible in the first 2-3 hours the park is opened and the crowds are low. The difference in temperature between 8-9am and 11am-noon is extraordinary!

Stay out of the parks 12-5ish if you can. Unless we're staying for an afternoon parade, by the time the park is hot and crowded, we go back to the hotel and lay in the pool and take a nap in the AC of the room. When you get back to the park, it's cooler, less crowded, and you will feel good.

Gotta drink that water! All counter service restaurants and many vendors can give you a huge cup of ice water for free. Drink before you get thirsty. We will bring Kool Aid or Crystal Light packets to mix with the water for variety.

Sunglasses and maybe a visor - I put the sunglasses on a neck strap, so when I go inside, I just rest them around my neck. No worries about losing them or scratching them.

2 words: MISTING FAN! Lol. These things are amazing! Especially filled with some ice water. Spray each other to your hearts' content!

Every time you go to the bathroom (which should be frequently from all that water you're drinking, right? :lmao: ), get a bunch of paper towels wet and put them on your neck and forehead. It helps a little.

Don't forget the sunscreen. Sunburn is pretty miserable.

I carry a hand towel with me and wet it at fountain, don't forget to take some crystal light to add to your water, this helped us immensly, soak your feet at least a couple of times a day..amazing what that can do for the heat..

WITHOUT exception: Getting to the park at RD, leaving every day between 12:30-1:00 and having afternoon back at the resort to hang in the pool, take a nap, stay in the A/C and read, etc.

In addition, each of us had our own Misty Mate mister as well as a Camelback. We only brought to the park what would fit in our own bag (not much...at all)! This approach kept our backpacks to a max of 6 lbs (including water) and carrying the water on our back provided hands-free convenience as well as a little add'l comfort because the water was on our back.

To me, dehydration and blisters are your biggest concerns. We were very diligent about drinking TONS of water. To put it in perspective, each bag carried between 1.5 to 2.5 liters and we each emptied the water by the time we left the park at 12:30. We refilled again at night (but never usually drank it all the 2nd time).

Just ordered mine! I really hope they help, I don't usually handle the heat well and we're going in July, so, yeah, good plan right? Thanks for the tip!

We use swim towels. You just wet them and wrap them over you shoulders. They will drop your skin temp down by 10*-15* When they warm up simply swing them in the air and they cool down again. Of course a little bit of ice water helps too!

I live in Alabama, so we are used to the heat and humidity. We went in August with a friend.

Get to the parks early and take it slow. Take lots of breaks, sit in the shade and drink some water and people watch for a while. If you are not felling dizzy or light headed, I would just sit outside in the shade instead of going to the airconditioning. To me once you leave the A/C, the heat and humidity just zap the energy from you again. Leave the park around lunch and go back to the resort and hit the pool. Definately use sun screen. I use the stuff for babies.

In the late evening, go back to the parks and try to ride some more rides. The parks should be a lot cooler and you should be able to do more in the evenings.
