The Background:
Well, I am healthy adult male who is 190 lbs. Now for the first time in my life I am gonna be living on the east coast. I will be in Fredericks, Maryland for 3 months and plan on visiting such cities as Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York and maybe Boston. AND I NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO GET FOOD.

The Problem:
I have never had food from these places. If I don't gain at least 10 lbs in the 3 months I will be there, I will think I am a failure. So I come to you mighty disboards, let me know where to east.

Things to Know:
I am going to Nandos in Wash DC; I haven't had it since I lived in Australia and this is the only one in the US.
I know that I should get a Jim's philly and either a Pat or Genos.

Under 10 pounds gained will be a failure.

I NEED MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF PLACES TO EAT

I'm also in a generous mood tonight and willing to donate a few as well...

If you happen to be in State College (Penn State University), make certain to visit the Creamery on campus for some of the best ice cream you will ever find :yay:

This sounds like bragging and I don't like it. ;)

Enjoy yourself...while you live out many people's dream. No recommendations...sorry! :teeth:

I have an extra 20 pounds that I would be willing to give up. If you only want 10 pounds of it, I will compromise. I live about 1/2 hour from Frederick and will drop it off myself.

What kind of food do you like? If you like fine dining, living in Frederick, you may lose 10 pounds. :rotfl:

Soooo....you're leaving the Virgin Islands?

Color me confused. At 190 lbs - and you want to gain weight - are you well over 6 feet tall? I know you're a recent college grad but honestly, you're still young - believe me, you don't really want the extra weight!

Frederick,MD, huh? Well, you won't be too far from Shepherdstown,WV(30-40 minutes), which I HIGHLY recommend you visit. It's a small college town here with a great list of restaurants and yumminess. You can gain ten lbs just by wandering through the town.

First up, Tony's Pizza. Not to be missed. From the onion rings to the calzones, you can't go wrong with anything in Tony's.

Then you have the Mecklinburg Inn, a great old pub. It's small it's usually packed with local performers and they have Guiness on tap. What's not to love?

The Shepherdstown Bakery.MMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Visit them on a Sunday morning and enjoy the pepperoni rolls. Buy some of the fresh english muffin bread or the apple raisin bread drizzled in icing.( I gained way more than 10 lbs when I worked there back in my college days. )

There's The Yellow Brick Bank. It's classy it's pricey its defionitely worth it.

The Bavarian Inn. Authentic German food, a beautiful view.

Be sure to stop in Sharpsburg when leaving Shepherdstown to grab a delicious waffle cone at Nutter's Ice cream shop. Truly some of the best ice cream around!

If you like chinese food this place is amazing. NYC Chinatown. Hop Kee, 21 Mott Street. Look up the reviews. You won't be sorry. Don't expect fancy, pancy though. That's not this place. Serves Bud and Tsing Tsao or you can bring your own wine. It's also cash only.

I could gain 10 pounds in two days honestly. I wish to God I could give you 10 of mine I would. Ok McDonalds and a good lazy boy chair should do the trick!

just saying "HI" to a fellow cal poly grad. My DH graduated with a BS in accounting in 1983. We are both Ventura county natives.

I went to Boston a few years ago and there was an AMAZING Italian restaurant across for the Mall of the Old North Church (think Paul Revere). If your back is toward the church, take the street and go left. It was the first restaurant on the right side of the street, I believe. (The name escapes me, maybe someone for Boston might know.) I have ran into other people who have gone there too and loved it. There were several restaurants there and I had heard all of the Italian food there (the "North end") was amazing. Plus the church was pretty cool to see.

YES - if you get to Boston, get over to the North End for Italian Food, and Faneuil Hall for just about any other kind of food you can think of!

Smokin' Al's BBQ !!!! Bay Shore, NY or Massapequa Park, NY
Their food is AWESOME!! We travel from NJ to eat there

The Spaghetti House in Boston, MA
Good Food, Friendly Staff

Pats & Genos are accross the street from one another in Philly & they were both shown on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives on Food Network Channel!!

Speaking of... Look up the Food Network Channel, you'll probably find some great places to eat

BOP... Brick Oven Pizza, in Maryland

Thanks for all the advice, keep it coming. I am not leaving the Virgin Islands, I just have job training for 3 months and have never been to the east coast.

Jim's Steaks in Philly!

4th and South Street - South Street, Philadelphia

Much better than Pat's or Geno's. (I'm sure I'll be flamed for this  )
