This is #1 on my 8 year old's Christmas list. And while it's super cool, $129 is a bit steep. Has anyone seen it for cheaper? Any idea if it's on any Black Friday sales lists? THANK YOU! :goodvibes

I am hoping to find a good deal also but haven't had any luck. Target right now is having buy one get one half off but that doesn't help with the steep cost of the castle.

Thanks. I was at Target today, and they didn't even have the castle set in stock! I have a feeling this is going to be a hard to find toy this year....

We found one at Target this week-end (but yes it was 129). K-mart was the same price according to the shelf....there were none left. Toysrus thought that 139 was a great sale (reg 149?) and they actually had about 4 in stock.
Now I'm from Canada but we went to Michigan to find our lego for Christmas. If you can even find the castle in Canada it would be closer to $200!!:scared1:

I ordered this set for my DS on the Lego website. It was $129 with free shipping. It was on backorder for about a month. I had ordered it about mid October and just got it in this week. I think this will be one of those items that is hard to find and will not go on sale any time soon. Good luck! The set does look awesome and I know my DS will absolutely love it!

I got one at Borders for my DD. It was $149 but I had a 40% off coupon that I received through email (they send you these a lot if you are a rewards member & its free to sign up). I also signed up for their extra rewards card (which is $20 per year) and I got an additional 10% off. With the extra rewards card you get an extra 10% off everything you buy for a year.

As mentioned, if you have a Borders Reward membership and you get the 40% off coupon and your Borders has the item, you get 40% off the $149 price bringing it to less than $100.

Thanks so much for sharing this tip! This is the best price for the Castle!

OK, I have one on hold at TRU. I have a 20% off one item coupon and a coupon for $10 off purchase of $75 or greater. So, that should bring it to about $95. I'm just glad that I found one. It's becoming HTF.

I bought ours at TRU too. Paid $129 for it and use a $10 off coupon...so $119 but I also swiped my rewards card and it has added up with my other Christmas shopping to over $40 in TRU cash that we will get in Jan...which is fine with me since DD8's birthday is in Feb and I am sure he will want a Lego set or 2. LOL

Read this somewhere. Buy two at Target and then return one. Makes them $97 each. Sales ends Saturday.

I've tried the 3 somewhat local Borders to me ~ the nearest is at 30 minutes away, the closest 2 have one each being shipped from the warehouse ~ the 3rd and frankly I wouldn't drive that far, wasn't much help. How does Target work?? It won't help much, according to www.target.com no stores in my area have it in stock.

ETA ~ Target, B1G1 50% off ~ aw well, not a single UT Target has any left...

And if you're desperate you could try Legoland ~ a couple years ago I got DS a hard to find set from Legoland in Carlsbad CA - I purchased the item over the phone!

i have had absolutely no luck with Target this year. Went on Monday morning at 9AM and was told by the Toys associate that our local store did not get any on the truck. Said they would be getting a double truck that night but no gaurentee that it would be on that truck. Another woman was there and asked about a raincheck and was told that they would not be giving them out for the Harry Potter sets. She did check another Target & they didn't get any either. Which is why I ended up at TRU...the same thing happened to me the week before with the Trio Batcave. They had me calling every morning to check on delivery and then I went into the store 3 times and they never had any but the same associate that told me to check back on the Harry Potter Legos claims she personally put out 6 but every time I called I was told they never recieved any so who knows.

Just wanted to thank my fellow DISers for the heads up here! I knew the HP Hogwarts set was on DS7's wish list, but as of last week hadn't really begun any holiday shopping yet. (Accidentally flooded our house recently - been a little preoccupied with that!) :-) Anyway, when I read this thread I set out to find one of these prized sets ASAP. I couldn't find one ANYWHERE!!! I spent all of last week on my quest. Targets, Borders, Wal-marts, TRUs - even the toy stores at the malls. My MIL went online and said pretty much every site she went to it was out of stock, and on back order for at least 30 days. She even searched out of state while she was on vacation! I was stunned! Finally I went into a Wal-mart in a nearby township and - GASP!!!! - there was one on the shelf! Just one! I couldn't believe it! No sale price. Ugh. But I got it!!!

I can't tell you how grateful I am for you guys - I find so much useful information here! I can't wait to see DS's face when he opens it. It clearly is huge for him - my kids are only allowed to ask Santa for one gift each year. They get so many gifts from us, our extended families, etc - I use this "one Santa gift" rule to get them to prioritize. Luckily they have never asked for anything too expensive or hard to find - until now! You guessed it. This weekend we took the kids to see Santa, and what was DS's ONE gift he asked Santa for? The Lego Hogwarts. Halleluiah!!! Thank you guys!!! I never would have known it was so hard to get this year if it weren't for you.

Happy Holidays!
