Help me find a purse

This past spring, I saw a really cute purse that I knew DD would love at a gift shop. When I went back the next day, they were all gone. I asked the clerk if she knew who made it and she had no idea what I was talking about since she hadn't seen them.

Anyway, it's a purse that has a variety of ribbons stacked one above the other to form horizontal stripes around the purse. The ribbons are all different but in the same hues. One was all different ribbons (some dots, some checked, some plaid, some striped..) in black, white and gray tones, another was all spring colors, one was all different pinks...

I thought for sure that it was a knock off of a famous designer but I'm not finding anything like this when I search google.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

No, i didn't see the one with Disney prints!!!!! Gotta go look now!!! I have a pink one, and I really love it. I may just have to have two now!!


I found them. They are OK, but super expencive!! I really liked the simple little zip pouch, but I don't know what I would do with that KWIM? I would really love it if it were a large purse in that design.....

No. It looked very similar to this one (I found by searching google images) but it was more straight up and down instead of angled in at the bottom, the handles were different and there was more variety in the ribbon in regard to patterns, color tones, width of the ribbon... I thought that made it was a Kate Spade knock off?

Thanks for the help though. The seatbelt purses are cute. I really like the black and white Disney one!

I've seen those, always in random gift shops, not big chain stores. I've never seen a particular brand that they were associated with. Some of them are really cute! Could you go back to that store (or call it) to see if someone else who works there knows what you are talking about? Maybe they could give you the name of the brand or the person who made them. If I see any in the next few days I'll be sure to find out the brand or contact information for the store.

Are you still near the gift shop? Can you go back? It's highly unlikely that they would buy just one purse style from the one designer/brand/company/supplier. Wholesalers usually sell more than one style of the same brand. You may be able to find the designer/brand label in a similar bag, which will help narrow down the search.

Or call up and ask for the owner or supervisor. See if she will give you the name of who she buys from. Can she put in a special order for another one? Clerks usually man the cash register and are not in on the buying end.

The gift shop was in a local river boat casino. I contacted a host there and she inquired about them with the manager for me. The manager did tell the host that they can not reorder. It seems that they buy a lot of things that may be from other stores (I've seen candles with the Target logo on them, towels with a Meijer brand...) so the purses were probably from a purchase like that.

I'm going to a big festival this weekend where there are a lot of crafts and knock-offs so I'll keep my fingers crossed that I find something similar.

Sounds like a knock off made in China! The Seatbelt bags by Harveys are really cute and are made in America, keeping jobs here. I have the Disney convertible tote, in the red, white and blue! I love it and I cant wait to carry it at Disneyland in November for my sons bday. seatbeltbags dot com
