Help me figure this out. Split stay- AOA/POP

Ok! So I am booked at Pop but can not get AOA (our fav) in Nemo Suite out of my mind. It is totally not feasible to do a 6 night stay at AOA this year. So I was thinking of doing a split stay. Here is my rough plan-
Pop 2 nights arrival night (we do not get in until evening) and second night with a one day ticket and no dining so we would pay OOP for 2 adults and 1 child (other is infant) at Chef Mickey's.
Remainder of the stay 4 nights at AOA with a 4 day ticket and disney dining.

It is about 500.00 cheaper (which pays for our flights) than staying at AOA the entire trip and gives us a new experience at Pop and we would get to stay at our favorite AOA!!

So my questions are. What time of day could I make the trek over to AOA to check in so that we had immediate access to our dining plan. The day we are to check into AOA we have a 8:00am dining ressie at H&V that I would want to use our dining credits for. Also if I packed my bags and left them with Pop luggage service before I went to AOA to 'check in' would they then deliver my bags to my room while we were out enjoying the parks or would it be better to walk our luggage over ourselves not an easy feet with two little ones and have AOA bell service keep it until our room is ready?
Also am I doing this the most sensible way?

You can do your whole ticket package (all 5 days) at AoA and just pick it up early at Guest Relations (see the All about Tickets sticky on the TP&S board) during your Pop stay. That would save you some more money since you wouldn't be buying 1 day's worth of tickets + a whole other ticket package.

By the way, I wouldn't do any character buffets OOP. Save those for your DDP days. Do a cheaper TS restaurant for your non-DDP stay.

To answer your other questions (because I didn't read all the way through, LOL):

I think you could check in at AoA at 6 a.m. and gather your DDP. Your room might not be ready, but Pop will move your luggage--you would just let them know that when you check out.

So if I am understanding this correctly and I priced it out on Disney website it is actually cheaper to stay two nights at Pop with no dining- 276.00 and 4 nights at AOA with 5 day park tickets and dining plan total-2173.00 than for my current booking which is 6 nights 5 park day and dining at Pop- 2566.00 and all I am lossing is 2 days of dining!!!!!

I may be understanding it wrong since I am a Disney newbie compared to you all. Anyone care to check my math?? Our dates are Sep 15-Sep 21
