Help me decide when to go in June

Looking to go to Disneyland sometime in June. We can go as early as June 3rd. We are planning on 5 nights and 3 day park hoppers (have gone to Disneyland a lot but normally in the Fall and during the Holidays) so I'm new to the Summer crowds. Best to avoid Grad nights? Best to wait until Southern CA passports are blocked? Avoid weekends?
Typically are the parks open late the first week of June?

As early as possible! We went a couple years ago the first week in June and it was not bad at all. The cast members told me that that was last reasonable week. By the second week the crowds go up and stay there all summer.

I don't think this advice is best for this year. This year is DL's 60th anniversary with new entertainment starting on May 22nd. There will be a lot of Annual Passholders trying to see the these new offerings before they are blocked out for the summer. For this reason, I would choose the end of June if possible, the last week in June. We will be there the first week in June this year because of a convention, but if it was not for that, we would be going the very end of June.
